I don’t have a “green thumb.” I have tried more times than I can count over the past 20+ years to have plants, but they always die within a few weeks.
Fast forward to this year.
Back in May, my son gifted me a plant for Mother’s Day. I was touched by his gesture, but I knew what would happen to the plant. It will die, no matter what I did. On my birthday (also in May), he gave me another plant because he saw how much I enjoyed the first one (I enjoyed it – yes – but I also knew it would die, which I didn’t tell him). On top of that, my neighbor also gave me a plant.
I put all of the plants on our balcony because I have been spending a lot of time outside back when the weather was still nice and not unbearably hot and humid.
To my surprise, all of the plants not only lived, but they also thrived. I even ended up buying three more plants. Our balcony went from being “blah” to a nice garden oasis.
Sadly, the elements and a really bad storm have taken their toll on the plants. I’m also not outside as much as used to be due to the hot weather. I don’t foresee my plants making it until the end of the summer. At least it was nice while it lasted. Maybe next year I can try again.
During the pandemic I didn’t leave our home that much, only when necessary. Even now, we don’t go too many places, even though we’re vaccinated. We’re afraid of getting the Delta variant. HOPEFULLY one day soon this will all be over with.
Staying inside too much is not healthy. Aside from needing fresh air and socializing, it helps to not stare at the same four walls 24/7.
I have found that having bright, colorful plants really help to alleviate my mood. Looking at them makes me happy.
The brand Green Philosophy Co. is here to help alleviate the blues from staying indoors by bringing elements of the outdoors into your home.
Green Philosophy Co. offers consumers the most darling plant themed pillows and blankets to decorate any home.
Here are a few examples;
The top two photos are decorative throw pillows. The bottom photo is a fleece and Sherpa blanket. It looks so soft!
Green Philosophy was kind enough to send me one of their throw pillows to check out for myself.
I received to review a medium succulent pillow in olive green. There is also a larger version available, as well as succulents in other colors (peach, as see above, and a sage green.
Inspired by the rosettes and chubby petals of succulent plants, this pillow adds a delightful touch of bloom in any space. Each pillow’s petals are hand assembled. Each pillow unique.
Here are some details about these adorable pillows (the medium sized succulent like the one I received).
- Approx. 15-16 in. wide
- Approx. 8 in. tall when laid flat
- Please note that size might vary a little bit because each flower is hand assembled. But when the pillow is broken in (flattened out by use), the flower gets a little bit wider and takes on its true shape. Just like a real succulent bloom!
- 100% polyester stuffing and micro plush cover
I must say, this pillow is simply adorable. It looks just like a real succulent too!
You can tell that this pillow is well made the moment you hold it in your hands. I looked all over and I didn’t see a single thread out of place.
It’s hard to tell from the photos, but this pillow is very soft and plush. Several times I have used it to prop my head on, or simply hold it in my lap and stroke it like I would one of our cats.
I love that it adds a touch of color to the room. I also love the idea of having something in the home that is “floral” so that even in the dead of winter, we have a touch of “floral” in the home – something that is not affected by the weather or my non-green thumb.
I like that the underside of the pillow resembles a sun.
The pillow’s color looks better (much more green) in person. I don’t know why the color is so off in my photos.
In addition to making throw pillows and blankets, Green Philosophy Co. has teamed up with Trees for the Future, a nonprofit organization aiming to put an end to hunger and poverty by helping farmers across Africa plant trees and regenerate their land. Not only is Green Philosophy giving back to Mother Nature, but they are simultaneously providing families with food, income, and education.
How wonderful! I love it when companies give back to others.
