I have many great loves in my life – my husband, my children, my pets… all the way down to coffee and chocolate.
I literally have coffee and chocolate every day. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, and I have at least one piece of chocolate as well. Chocolate is an indulgence for me. It’s my sweet “reward” for a day well done.
I do not consider myself a “coffee snob,” but I do like a decent cup of coffee. I need coffee that has bold flavor. I don’t mean a dark roast but more so something that is very flavorful. I have had “cheap” coffees that tasted like warm water (gross!).
The same applies to chocolate. While I do enjoy regular chocolates (the kinds you find at the grocery store check out), I prefer gourmet quality chocolates. I especially like dark chocolate because it’s better for you than milk chocolate.
I had the opportunity to try both coffee and chocolate from a newly launched brand here in the United States, Cafe Galletti Ecuadorian coffee and chocolate.
Here is a little more information about the brand’s products.
Café Galletti’s coffee is backed by a standard of premier quality, with the aim of producing the best coffee customers have ever tasted. One hundred percent environmentally responsible, the company’s coffee products include medium roast, medium dark roast and dark roast Arabica specialty coffees and espressos. Flavors include House Blend, Woman’s Coffee (which promotes possibilities for Ecuadorian women and their families), Ecuador’s Cloud Forest, French Roast from the Volcanoes, Ecuadorian Mountains, Amazonian and Espresso from the Volcanoes.
I received to review the brand’s house blend.
This makes a great cup of coffee. I was extremely pleased with the flavor. It’s flavorful and bold, but not in a dark roast way.
The coffee is smooth, not bitter. It’s especially nice when you add a touch of cream and sugar (I don’t drink coffee black).
This coffee has a nice fragrance too. I know that is an odd thing to say about a cup of coffee, but it does have a pleasant aroma.
This coffee tastes like something you would get at an fancy coffee house or a fine restaurant. This is far from diner-quality coffee, or coffee you get at places like Starbucks or Dunkin.’
Café Galletti’s fine Ecuadorian chocolate also comes to the U.S. market through work with direct trade relationships and farmer co-operatives. It is made using strictly 100 percent natural products, 100 percent Ecuadorian chocolate and organic fine aroma cacao. It is a high-quality 87+ rated chocolate, making it a specialty. Varieties include Bella Donna (fig and rose petal), Amazonica (pineapple, passionfruit and energy plant), Orange Mocha (orange and ground Galletti coffee) and Andina (strawberry flakes and raspberry).
I completely forgot that Cafe Galletti makes flavored chocolates. I received a small box of the chocolates, but I didn’t try them right away (which is not like me – I love chocolate!). When I finally got around to trying it, I was shocked! I put a few pieces in my mouth and right away I was greeted with a sweet, bitter taste. It was the strawberries and raspberries inside! I totally forgot about that.
Mmm… I really enjoy the tartness in the chocolate that the berries give it.
The chocolate it’s self is really nice on it’s own. It’s flavorful and tasty. It’s definitely gourmet chocolate.
You can see the berries in the chocolate pictured above. Yumm!
In addition to delicious chocolate and a great cup of coffee, Cafe Galletti does have an important mission. Their mission is to empower women in the pursuit of equality. The brand is also fair trade and gives back to Ecuadorian farmers where it is manufactured.
I like to support brands who support their communities, as well as those that are fair trade. That is important to me.
