I have always been very passionate about taking photos. I especially love to take nature photos. For some odd reason my nature photos always turn out a lot better than my indoor photos. That’s fine and all, but when I am doing product photos I would like them to be equally as nice as my outdoor photos.
Sadly, my camera broke a couple of years ago. Since it was an old camera is wasn’t worth getting it fixed (it would have cost more than what it was worth). I honestly didn’t mind that it was older because it WAS working perfectly fine for me.
I know that I can take photos on my iPhone, just let most everyone else does, but it’s not the same as holding a real camera in your hands and having different lenses to achieve the perfect photo.
I still remember back in the day before pricey professional cameras were readily available. I’m talking the kind of camera were you would have to move a dial with your finger to advance to the next spot on the camera roll, and having to wait a week to get your film developed after you were finished with the roll. It was always an exciting feeling to open up the photo envelope to see how many photos came out great and how many came out horrendous.
Sometimes you find those types of camera on tables at weddings and other events. I’m referring to the disposable ones often left out for guests to use to take random photos to share with the bride and groom.

You can still get that retro vibe feeling of taking photos without a smartphone with a Flashback ONE35 V2 Camera.
Experience photography the way it was meant to be. Flashback brings back the anticipation and thoughtfulness of film photography, without the waste or expense. Each shot matters when you only have 27 frames and a 24-hour wait to see your memories develop.
- The complete film experience without the hassle, waste and cost.
- Stay screen-free in the moment, relive your retro pics in the app later.
- Optional Film Camera Mode with 24 hours of delayed gratification.
I was sent one of these cameras to try out for myself.
My first impression of this camera is that it is 100% identical to a disposable camera, right down to having to move the dial to move on to the next photo on the “roll.” This encourages users to take time to snap a photo. Unlike with a smartphone that can snap images in quick succession, using this camera forces you (in a good day) to take time when snapping a photo, just like in the good old days.
You also have a view finder on this camera. Like I mentioned earlier, it has the look and feel of an authentic disposable camera. It even has a counter like a real camera.

It’s been such a long time since I held one of these cameras. It brought back a lot of memories.
You’ll need to download an app to use the camera. That is where your photos will be seen.
On the free app you can see a gallery of photos, a photo lab, change settings and more. You can also change the type of film you want to use, which changes the look of the photos.

The craziest thing about this camera is that you DON’T get instant gratification. Just like a real camera, you have to wait for the “film” to be developed.
In the camera’s “classic mode” you can shoot up to 27 images, which are sent to the Flashback app. The photos will be available for you to view in 24 hours. WOW! Talk about a lesson in patience. With the smartphone you can see your photo seconds after you snap them. The first few times I used this camera it was “torture” having to wait 24 hours, but, I’m used to it now. After all, with a real camera it can day days, even a week, to get film developed. Twenty-four hours is nothing by comparison.
My kids (young adults) thought it was crazy to think we had to wait to see if picture turned out okay or not. They also think it must have been difficult not having apps to adjust pictures and change imperfections.
If you can’t wait 24-hours, you can use the “digicam mode” and be able to see the photos right away.
I had mentioned apps to “fix” photos. With this camera pictures come out with slight imperfections – just like with a REAL camera. You might see some imperfections such as noise, grain, and vignetting, thanks to the processing filters applied by the app. This completes the retro look and feel of this camera. It’s “old school” from star to finish.
Here are some examples of my cats. Please know that the lighting in my home is horrible. Even with my smartphone images can come out horrible due to that fact. Due to the weather, I haven’t been able to take any outdoor photos…yet.
As you can see, they have some “noise” to them and looks a bit “grainy.” The lighting is also offer. They look more like old photos rather photos I took “today.”

You can send the photos on the camera to your smartphone. Just connect with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth or plug in via USB-C cable. The photos go straight into the Flashback app where you can view, save and share. I’m sure you can edit the photos then if you really want to. But why would you? the whole purpose of this retro camera is to get that old school look and feel of the photos.
This camera is also a reusable alternative to disposable cameras, featuring a built-in, rechargeable battery (via USB-C or Lightning cable) and recycled plastic construction.
You can learn more about the Flashback camera on the brand’s website, JoinFlashback.co. Please that it’s .co, NOT .com.
You can also check out the brand on social media. Their links are found on the bottom of their website.
What do you think about this old school camera? Would you like to give it a try? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
