Meet Rocketbook – the Notebook of the Future

I have two children in college. Our daughter is finishing up her Bachelors in Psychology (she wants to go on to study Neuropsychology) and our son is currently working on his Associates in Criminal Justice (he wants to be a Police Officer).

As you know, college is super expensive. Case in point, just ONE three credit class at my daughter’s college costs $3,000+. That does not include text book rental, commuting, gas for the car, and supplies (pens, paper, notebooks…). Any way we can save a few dollars here and there helps a lot in the long run.

Both of my kids have notebooks galore cluttering their rooms. They save notebooks just in case they have notes and other information from previous classes that can help with current (or future) classes. My son even has a notebook from high school. He took a class on finances and found it very interesting. He kept all of his notes in case he needed the information in the future.

I also have notebooks on my desk. Some are filled with work related information, others are filled with stuff I find useful, blog information, notes from work meetings and more.

What if there was a way to combine all of the information in your notebooks that was easily accessible from just about anywhere, and didn’t require you to hold on to many notebooks? Would you be interested in learning more about it?

Introducing Rocketbook. It’s the futuristic way to preserve your notes, drawings, graphs and more and allows you to access that information whenever you need it from just about anywhere.

This brief video explains it better than I can.

I was sent a Rocketbook to try out for myself.

The Rocketbook is very unassuming looking. It honestly doesn’t look like much at all. It just looks like a regular notebook.

Rocketbook is available in different styles, ranging in price from $10 (pads) to $32. The books are also available in different colors. The brand also offers bundle packages.

You’ll need to use Pilot FriXion pens in order to use a Rocketbook. The pens sell from $7 (3-pack of black pens) to $16 (multi-color pack). The pens are also included in some of the bundle packages. The pens can also be purchased at other retail locations (Amazon, Staples, Walmart…). With some of the Rocketbooks you can use dry erase markers (specifically Crayola dry erase markers), which are also readily available.

You’ll need to download the free Rocketbook application. This way you can upload your notes and send them to whatever location, folder, or email you wish.

Using the Rocketbook is simple. It’s literally like writing on regular paper, except this paper has some kind of special “coating” (or something like that) on it. You really can’t tell the difference.

It’s important that you only use the Pilot FriXion pens. I’m guessing they don’t harm the “paper” and you can wash the ink off the paper easily enough without leaving marks.

Rocketbooks are available in different styles and colors. They look like ordinary notebooks.

Use your Rocketbook the way YOU want to. Doodle in it, take notes from a business meeting, let your child take notes from class… it’s totally up to you. Go ahead and use the Rocketbook to write that novel you’ve always dreamed of writing.

When you are done, use the Rocketbook app to scan the page.

At the bottom of each page are little icons. Each one represents a specific destination (email, Google Drive, Dropbox, text message…). You assign a destination to each icon. When you are ready to scan the page, mark the icon, or icons, that correspond to the location you want to send the image. Once the image is scanned, it will be sent to every location you marked off. Where you send each page is totally up to you. For example, you can send math notes to your Google Drive, business meeting notes to your co-workers, or your favorite recipe to your Drop Box, and so forth.

Once you are done scanning, you can use a damp cloth (water) and wipe the page totally clean so you can use it over and over again.

Scanner code and the various icons you can set up for different locations to send your page scan to. Simply mark off the locations you want to send it to, like the “x” in this example.

Just think about how much paper and trees can be saved if everyone used a Rocketbook instead of a traditional paper notebook.

I’m not much of a “techie.” I can’t tell you how long it took me to “get” Excel. LOL! However, I was able to figure out Rocketbook right away. It’s a “no brainer.” ANYONE can learn to use Rocketbook – children, adults, elderly.

I love how this book is lightweight and thin. It’s very portable. It’s so much easier than lugging around numerous notebooks. I also love how you can easily organize your notes and they are available to you just about any time you need them.

My daughter mostly uses the Rocketbook sample that I received to review. She uses it at college to keep her notes organized. For that reason I don’t have the book readily available for me to photograph.

If you are interested in learning more about Rocketbook, visit GetRocketbook.com. The brand can also be found on social media. All of their links are found at the bottom of their website.

What do you think about Rocketbook? Does it look like something you and/or your family could benefit from?

Enjoy your favorite memories with a Nixplay Wi-Fi digital photo frame

If you are around my age (50-something ugh!), you’ll remember how we used to enjoy precious photographs.

Back in the day you had to purchase film for your camera. Once the roll was finished you had to take it some where to get developed. Often that took several days, unless you went to one of those photo express booths (remember those?).

I always opened up the envelope of photos as soon as I got into my car. I could never wait to check them out. There was always a few that had to be tossed out for a variety of reasons.

After you picked out your favorite photos, you put them in a photo album. When you wanted to relive memories you’d simply open up your photo albums.

We have more than two dozen photo albums. My husband used to create a new album each year. He’s very organized. The only problem with that is that you’d have to know what year’s album to look through if you were looking for a favorite picture.

Some of your best photos were most likely displayed in frame (these days you can have them made into a variety of prints including canvas, wood and metal).

I love seeing photos of my family and friends. But sometimes I want to see more of my favorite photos. There are only so many frames you can display. And if you are like us and live in a tiny home (condo, townhome, trailer…) there are only so many frames you can have. That is why I appreciate the Nixplay digital photo frame.

Digital photo frames are not something new. They have been around for years. Some frames stand out more than others.

I was sent to review the Nixplay Iris digital frame. I received the Peach Copper color. It’s not my first choice (I would have preferred silver or bronze), but it’s grown on me.

Here is a brief video about the Nixplay Iris digital frame.

The Nixplay Iris is one of their Wi-Fi enabled frames, meaning that you can do things on the frame from an app on your phone. You can control your frame, as well as upload photos, via the free Nixplay app.

What I like about this frame is that you don’t have to go out and buy pricey (and tiny!) SD cards to insert into the frame or transfer photos to your frame with a flash drive. Instead, photos are added to your frame using the app. That means you can transfer your favorite photos on the various social media platforms directly to your frame. Considering a lot of people use Facebook and Instagram to share photos, it makes perfect sense that you can transfer photos from those platforms onto your frame.

You can also access your photos from various devices using the Cloud. The Nixplay Iris digital frame also comes with 10 GB of free cloud storage. I’m not sure how many photos that would hold, but I would have to guess into the thousands.

My frame. I turned the photos off for privacy reasons. I’m very picky about the photos of my family that I choose to be shown on my blog.

First the techie details.

Setting this up took a little bit because we first had to set the device up on our router. My husband is a computer tech and computer safety and security are important to him (as they should be for everyone). I’m not sure what he had to do but it had something to do with a firewall and mac address and turning something off in the settings.

Once we got the frame set up with our Wi-Fi there was just some simply registration stuff to complete and we were all set to go.

I should add that the Nixplay Iris comes with different plugs that can be used in the U.S. and abroad. You should select the correct plug for your area. Plugging the plug into the frame was easy.

The frame comes with a decent length plug, which helped because the two places we tried out the frame required a good length to it.

The frame comes with a built in stand, but it’s not what you would normally expect. The plug also acts as a stand. The part of the plug closest to the frame is made of some kind of a sturdy “wire” that allows it to be bent in different directions depending on whether or not you want the frame to be horizontal or vertical. The downside to this is that you cannot hang it on the wall (it wouldn’t lie flush against the wall). I would have loved to have been able to hand this up, but that’s OK.

Built in stand allows you to display the frame vertically or horizontally. I like that they put such great detail into the back of the frame too.

The frame and the app also have to be synced together, but that was easy enough to do. Even I could do that, and I’m far from a “techie.”

The frame also comes with a remote control, which is a unique feature. The remote allows you to navigate with your frame including play, stop, pause, switching between playlists, settings and more.

Once everything is set up you are ready to add photos. To do this simply open up your app and start adding photos.

There are different features within the app, so I would suggest playing around a bit to familiarize yourself with all that you can do. Take for example playlists. You can create different playlists to show on your frame. One example I wanted to set up (I’m still trying to track down all the photos) is a playlist of holiday photos of my family throughout the years. I want them to play on the frame for the holiday season. I think that would be a fun thing to do. My family and I can talk about the various photos that appear and relive fond memories of past Christmases.

Here is a REALLY cool thing about Nixplay Iris. You instantly share photos to anyone else that you are friends (or family) with who also has one of the frames. This is perfect for loved ones who live far away, like grandparents.

My father and stepmother live in Florida now (we’re in New York). They have grandchildren (my kids) here in New York and the rest of their grandchildren in Indiana. If everyone had one of these frames we could all send photos to Grandpa and Grandma instantly.

Remote control.

You can also send photos to others around the world. All they need is one of the frames and Wi-Fi. This would be great for those in the military who are stationed at bases overseas and want to keep connected with loved ones back home.

Not all older people use Facebook or Instagram. Some are not into computers either, so the frame is a wonderful way to provide them with pictures of you and your family. You can also choose who to share photos with.

I’m just touching the surface of the Nixplay Iris. I’m still familiarizing myself with it. I’m sure there are a lot more “bells and whistles” I have yet to discover.

This would make a truly wonderful gift for your loved ones. It’s a great way to feel connected, regardless of the miles in between you.

It’s also a great way for you to enjoy your precious moments, rather than leave photos buried in photo albums or lost in folders on your computer.

Nixplay has other available digital frames, including ones that are not on Wi-Fi.

If you are interested in learning more about Nixplay Iris, visit Nixplay.com. The brand can also be found on social media. All of their links are found at the bottom of their website.

Would you like to own a Nixplay Iris digital frame? Do you know someone who would appreciate one as a gift this holiday season? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts.

Keep kids entertained with Puzzingo Kids Puzzles

Can you believe the Thanksgiving is this week? I sure can’t. In fact, I didn’t believe my husband the other day when he said we needed to pick up a few more things from the store for our Thanksgiving dinner. I honestly thought we had two weeks left. It’s crazy how quickly the holidays sneak up on you. Even Christmas is just weeks away.

With so many families traveling for the holidays, it’s very important to keep kids entertained. Whether you are taking a plane or driving, you want to make sure your kids are kept busy, in a fun way. One way to keep kids busy is to let them play games.

When you are traveling it’s much easier to play a game on a phone or tablet then carry around a traditional board game or puzzle.

As a parent, I would prefer that my kids play traditional games, but I wouldn’t be against my kids playing a game via an app on my phone, iPad or tablet. Thankfully there are plenty of great apps that are not only fun, but they are also educational. Take for example Puzzingo Kids Puzzles.

Puzzingo Kids Puzzles is a top ranking kids puzzle app from 77Sparx with over 8 million downloads and 1 billion plays. The creators, 77Sparx, work to ensure Puzzingo remains the same great, kid-safe experience it always has been.

Puzzingo Puzzles has been highly sought after by parents, guardians, educators and of course, children.

Puzzingo has been awarded:

  • Dr. Toy’s 10 Best Children’s Product
  • Editor’s Choice
  • Best Apps for Kids
  • 5 out of 5 by Apps for Homeschooling

Puzzingo Kids Puzzles also has a 4.8 out of 5 stars rating on iTunes.

I have had the opportunity to play around with Puzzingo Kids Puzzles myself.

There are different Puzzingo Kids Puzzles. I would recomment downloading the “pro” version because it gives you access to all the puzzles. If not, you can download the individual Puzzingo Kids Puzzles.

Puzzling is part puzzle, part game, and part learning.

Puzzlingo Kids Puzzles features a mascot called Puzzingo. He appears in all of the games. He’s a colorful, happy clown.

The puzzles are separated by themes, such as dinosaurs, trucks/cars, sports, pirates, fairy tales and pets, just to name a few.

There are so many games to play.

To enjoy Puzzingo Kids Puzzles, simply select the puzzle theme you want to play. On the next screen you’ll see a gift box. When you click on the gift box it will open up to review puzzle pieces that need to be moved to their special spot (you use your finger to move the puzzle pieces around).

The puzzle pieces appear on the right side of the screen and the puzzle its self is on the left side.

Click on the present (found on the right side of the screen) to expose the various puzzle pieces.

I LOVE that this puzzle includes the official fish of Hawaii (the one located at the bottom right of the photo). It’s hard to pronounce, but the game does it for you. It’s fun to hear.

Complete each puzzle to move on to the next one and/or play a fun game associated with the puzzle.

Each puzzle piece has a word underneath it. As your child moves the piece to the appropriate spot, the game will verbally say each word. This helps a child to expand his/her vocabulary. It can also help with learning how to spell.

The game also plays fun sound effects to go along with the word and puzzle.  The voice that talks throughout the puzzles and games also uses positive words, telling the gamer how wonderful they have done.

After a child completes a puzzle they have the opportunity to play a game based on the theme of the puzzle, or enjoy fun things such as playing with an animal. Some puzzles don’t have a game associated with it, but most do.

There are plenty of fun driving games.

Dress up games are always popular with kids.

Fly a plane with Puzzingo.

Cool fighter planes.

Try and score by tossing the ball into the net, but watch out, Puzzingo is going to try and block it.

The extra games are fun. There are many driving games which I know will appeal to both boys and girls. There are also games of skill, such as “kicking” the soccer ball into the net, or getting the ball into the net while “swimming” in the pool.

There is even a holiday section, which is perfect for this time of year.

I love that the games has a variety of themes, including snow. There is even a snow ball fight game kids can play.

There are plenty of holiday/seasonal puzzles and games found in the Puzzingo Kids Puzzles app.

As a parent, I appreciate that this app is not only fun and engaging, but that it also teaches children vocabulary words too. Kids don’t know that they are learning. That is a “win-win” situation if you ask me.

Puzzingo Kids Puzzles is available at the Apple store, Google Play and Amazon apps.

If you would like to learn more about Puzzingo Kids Puzzles, visit the brand’s website, 77Sparx.com. You can also check out the brand on Facebook.

77Sparx has another fun game worth checking out called Wonster Words. It’s another fun and educational app for kids.

What do you think about Puzzingo Kids Puzzles? Does it sound like something your child/grandchild might like to play? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts.

Give the gift of safety and power with a MyCharge AdventureUltra portable charger

When it comes to buying Christmas presents, I normally look for something fun and unique. I prefer those types of gifts over practical ones, but sometimes, practical gifts make the best gifts.

The winter months are fast approaching. Some parts of the country have already experienced their first snowstorms.

Snowstorms CAN be pretty – but driving in a snowstorm and shoveling out after one are no fun. Neither is losing power, which does happen a lot. Its easy for heavy snow and/or ice to weigh down a tree branch, break it lose and have it take down a power line. Depending on the severity of the snow storm, people can be without power for hours, days or even week or more.

Thankfully the longest we went without power last winter was six hours. It also happened at night, so we just went to bed early. When we woke up in the morning we had power restored.

I try and keep a supply of batteries on hand to keep flashlights and the radio working. Sadly, that doesn’t really help when it comes to keeping your phone charged.

My whole family has portable chargers (the small, pocket sized ones) but our kids never remember to check the charge from time to time. They find out the hard way when we lose power and they don’t have enough on their charger to charge their phones. Without their phones our kids have to – dare I say – TALK to us. LOL! We can’t have that happen.

A practical gift idea to consider is the MyCharge AdventureUltra portable charger. Not only can is charge MULTIPLE smartphones, but it can also charge iPads, laptops, lanterns and more. It can even run a 32″ television for up to three hours! How many chargers do you know that can do that?

This is not a single device only type of charger. This charger can charge multiple devices at the same time. Of course, the more things you have plugged into it, the quicker it will lose its charge (the electronics plugged into it drains it of it’s charge).

Thankfully the AdventureUltra can be recharged so it can be used again and again.

The AdventureUltra is one of our largest battery banks and has the highest power output. Designed to replace the heavy and bulky generators used when tailgating or camping, the AdventureUltra is a streamlined power source that can run a 32-inch LED television for up to three hours. The AdventureUltra has a maximum power output of 45 watts, enough to run a fan or recharge a drone battery. It can also be used with 2 in 1 laptops and new laptops, such as the 12-inch MacBook, that require less than 45 watts either when powered off and solely charging or when powered on and charging simultaneously.

I was sent one to review. Luckily we haven’t lost power, but I was able to test its ability with charging our devices from around our home (phones, iPads, my husband’s laptop…).

The AdventureUltra is not that large, or heavy. Its about the size of our router box for our internet provider. It’s measurements are .2 in x 5.8 in x 4.1 in, and it weighs barely over a pound. This makes the AdventureUltra very portable. You can take it with you when you travel, go camping or just about anywhere that you might need power.

If I recall correctly, the one I received to review (brand new, never opened) already had a charge on it. Just to make sure it was fully charged I plugged it in for a bit.

I believe the device holds a full charge for up to a year, but it’s recommended that the charge be checked every once in a while when not in use. I told my husband we should check it whenever we change the clocks and check the batteries in our smoke detectors. If we get into that habit we shouldn’t ever be caught without a full charge.

We were able to fully charge our phones (iPhones), our iPads (one newer, one older) and my husband’s laptop (his is small – my laptop is bigger) with no problem. We even plugged in the lamp in our living room and it worked like a charm (although I never thought to see how long it kept the lamp working). I much rather have light from a lamp than a flashlight in the event of a blackout.

Here are some more details about the MyCharge AdventureUltra portable charger.

  • Smart-sense: ensures complete device compatibility
  • Hyper-charge: ultra-fast charging of your devices; up to 65% faster than competitors
  • Power-stay: maintains battery power for up to 1 year
  • Max-power: maximum power transfer from powerbank to device
  • High-density battery: the smallest and lightest powerbank
  • Safe-cell: provides the highest level of battery safety
  • Rapid-recharge: powerbank recharges up to 50% faster than competitors
  • Pass Through Charging: will charge the powerbank and connected device simultaneously

I should add that there is a power display so that you know how much charge you have left on it. It also lets you know if it’s off or on. I can’t find the directions for it, but I believe it also shuts off when not in use to conserve power, but I could be wrong about that.

Ideally I’d love to have another one like this, as a back up, in case we lose power for a longer period of time. The longest was three days back when Hurricane Floyd (1999). Hopefully we never have to experience that ever again, but you can never be too certain.

With the holiday season upon us, the MyCharge AdventureUltra portable charger would make a great gift, especially for an elderly person, someone who loves to go camping, hunters, someone who loves tailgating or anyone you feel would appreciate this practical and very useful gift. I would even think this would make a great gift for a college student, just in case they lose power in their dorm.

For more information about this and other MyCharge products, visit MyCharge.com. The brand can also be found on social media. Their links are on their home page.

What do you think about the MyCharge AdventureUltra portable charger? Does it sound like something you need in your life? Would you consider giving this as a gift? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts.

Learn to make beautiful music with a Casio CT-X700 portable keyboard

Me at Christmas time (approx. two years old) next to our organ/keyboard.

When I was a young girl my family owned a keyboard, although I think we referred to it as an organ back then.

I used to love to play with it every chance I had. We did have music sheets for it, but I couldn’t read music, so I just made up my own songs.

My sister taught me how to play the Marine Battle Hymn (our brother was in the Marines back then). I also learned how to play Silent Night, but I honestly don’t remember how I learned it. Maybe my sister taught me that too.

A friend of mine in high school taught me how to play the theme to the Godfather on our organ as well.

I only knew how to play a few songs. Most of the time I just made stuff up.

Our organ/keyboard didn’t have any “bells and whistles.” It was as basic as it gets. Today’s keyboards a light years ahead of our keyboard. Today’s keyboards are truly amazing with their capabilities.

I was sent to review a brand new keyboard. I received to review the Casio CT-X700 portable keyboard.

We’ve had this keyboard all summer and I can honestly say we still haven’t scratched the surface of all it’s amazing capabilities. Talk about “bells and whistles” – WOW!

This affordable keyboard could easily sell for thousands with all it can do.

Let me start with the basics.

This is a portable keyboard, meaning you can take it with you where ever you go. It’s not very heavy at all. It’s large size might be a bit cumbersome for “vertically challenged” (short) people like myself, but it’s light weight enough to take it from place to place.

The keyboard runs on both a plug or batteries (6 AA batteries, which are not included). I LOVE that it uses batteries so I am not confined to placing it next to an outlet in order to use it. Most outlets in our home are not readily accessible or they already had things plugged into them. I like that I can literally enjoy this in any room of our condo.

You can start enjoying this right out of the box. There is no assembly or set up required. Just find a comfy location to play with it.

The built in speakers are phenomenal. You can get this to go pretty loud, so much so that my husband was worried that we might be bothering our downstairs neighbors with it. I wasn’t worried. I wouldn’t never play this on a loud setting anyway. Besides, their large dog parks non-stop all day and night. I think a little “payback” would be acceptable. Ha Ha.

My husband playing with the keyboard as it rests on the ottoman. I love it’s portability.

The keyboard has a large panel where you can access all the features. I will admit that I was (and still am) a bit overwhelmed by it all. There are so many things I am really not very knowledgeable about such as splits, beat metronome, and working with tone and rhythm. To be honest, whenever I play with this I just play around with the various buttons. It’s fun enough just to come up with my own music. I’m sure over time I’ll learn what all the buttons really do. That is why I said that I barely scratched the surface of what this incredibly piece of musical equipment can do.

There is a keypad that allows you to punch in the numbers/codes for the various features you want to utilize. The codes are printed right on the keyboard so that you have easy access to them and you don’t have to stop what you are doing to look them up in a book/manual.

There is a tremendous variety of instruments you can play on this keyboard, including instruments that most people don’t play anymore, like a harpsichord, to really funky instruments/sounds. It’s like you can play music that sounds like it’s from the olden days all the way up to modern/funky sounds. There are even drums and string instruments!  The possibilities are endless with what you can create with all these instruments to choose from.

What impressed me is how incredibly realistic the instruments sound. There is nothing “fake” about them. If you closed your eyes you would truly believe you were listening to a guitar, or a drum or even a string instrument. The sounds are so lifelike that it’s hard to believe they are coming from a keyboard in your home.

There are hundreds (if not thousands) of possibilities when you utilize the instruments, tones and rhythms together. Again, I’m still learning how to use this so I haven’t even been able to see all that it can do.

One of my most favorite features, aside from the realistic sounds, is the display where you can learn to play music. The keyboard comes with 100 songs that you can learn to play by watching the display. The screen will tell you what keys to press on the keyboard.

I think the lessons are a GREAT feature, but for me, it takes time to learn where to put your fingers. There are so many keys and it takes me time to count over from the ends so I know which key specifically to press. There might be an easier way to do it, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

I think I am missing out on telling you about more of the great features this instrument has. There is just so much it does!

What I love about this is that it’s something myself, and my family, can enjoy for a very long time. It will take a while for us to figure out all the features. It’s great that we can learn it at our own pace. It’s also fun just to press buttons and make our own music.

Our daughter recently commented that we have something fun to do if/when we lose electricity rather than just sit there. Because this runs on batteries, it would be fun to use to entertain ourselves until the power comes back on.

Whether you are an experienced musician, or a “newbie” like me and my family, the Casio CT-X700 is the perfect piece of equipment to use.

For more information about this and other Casio products, visit Casio.com. You can find the musical instruments category on the top menu bar for “products.”

What do you think about this AMAZING keyboard? Does it sound like something you would enjoy playing with?

Protect your home and your loved ones with HomeHawk by Panasonic (giveaway ends 9/8/18)

Like most people, I worry about the safety and well being of my family, whether we’re all at home, or just one of us is home alone. There are A LOT of crazy people out there in the world. I see all the horror stories play out on the evening news with home invasions and break-ins, even when someone is home. I never, ever want that to happen to my family.

We do have an itty-bitty (cheap) security camera in our home, but it only covers a small/narrow view. Someone could easily come into our home and duck into the kitchen entry way without getting a good look at them on camera. I am not fond of how ineffective it is, but it’s better than nothing. At least it gave us some peace of mind.

Things were easier when we had our dog. He would bark up a storm if a stranger even attempted to come in the door way.

Another reason why I like having a security camera is so that my husband and I can see what our kids are up to. It’s not that we don’t trust them, per say, but we have a strict policy of NO ONE being in our home when we are not around – meaning friends and “significant others.” Our son has a girlfriend and our daughter has a boyfriend. Teens and young adults these days can be a bit “naughty,” if you know what I mean. For their protection, we don’t want them in our home when no adult is around.

About a month ago I was sent another home security camera to review that puts our little one to shame. The difference in quality it like “night and day.”

Stock photo to represent how the camera is weather resistant.

I was sent to review the HomeHawk™ KX-HN70001W HD by Panasonic. This camera was specifically designed for home monitoring.

Home monitoring has never been more simple, effective and secure than with the new HomeHawk™ by Panasonic KX-HN7000 Series of HD cameras. The KX-HN7001W model comes equipped with 1 front door HD camera and wireless access point base to ensure that your home is protected inside or outside. Not to mention the system records everything in color, offers a wider view and is completely wire-free with cameras running on built-in long-life rechargeable batteries.

Some of the great features with the HomeHawk include;

  • Color recording, even at night
  • High-definition, weather resistant cameras perfect for outdoor and indoor use
  • Wide-angle view up to 172 degrees
  • Built-in, long-life rechargeable battery
  • 100% wire-free
  • Exclusive package monitoring mode
  • Sync up to 15 additional cameras for more home monitoring
  • Google Home and Amazon Echo compatible

Let me start off by saying this camera is set up inside our home, even though it’s OK for outside use. We live on the top floor condo. The likelihood of someone breaking in from the windows or sliding glass door is slim to none. Our unit faces a busy parking lot. Someone would have to be insane to try and break in that way.

This camera was built for your front door, however we use it inside our home (not on our door). It can be used either way.

I would take a photo of where out camera is, but for security reasons I don’t want people to know about it. If you are a friend or family member you can see it in our home, but I don’t want strangers to come to my home and know where it is so that they can avoid it (sadly, you can’t be too cautious in this day and age).

Great wide angle view!

I LOVE the wide angle of this camera. Our other camera only showed a straight, narrow view where as this camera (and where we have it set up) gives us a view of the entire room AND entry way into our home (including the sliding glass doors). Since there is no way to break in via the bathroom or bedroom window, this camera allows us to see all of the viable entry ways in one shot. I love that it even picks up what our cats are doing, so we can check in on them from time to time.

I also love that it comes with a long life rechargeable battery. That means we can move it around our home whenever necessary and not have to worry about plugs and wires. Our other camera had to be plugged in to our wireless router, which was a hassle.

You do have to charge it for several hours before setting it up. I let my husband take care of all the “techie” stuff.

The set up for this camera was super easy. I personally didn’t set it up, my husband did. He said it was a breeze to set up.

You also need to download the accompanying app so that you are able to view what the camera sees on your phone or iPad. I like that you can see things in “real time.”

If you want to record what the camera sees, you need to insert a  microSD card into is. We didn’t have one (and we have yet to purchase one) so for now we can’t record anything. That is fine. Eventually we’ll get around to it.

When it comes to our kids, we have the “Find My Phone” app on our phones, so we know when our kids are coming home. That way we can hop on the app for the camera and make sure they enter the home alone.

There is also a handy two-way talk feature, so that we can give the kids a subtle reminder to clean the litter box when they get home. LOL!

The camera is a bit sensitive, so it picks up on every little motion in our home. When you have multiple pets you’ll get alerts all day long. That to me was the only downside to this. During the day the cats are mostly asleep, so it hasn’t been too bad. I can only imagine what it would be like outside with birds, leaves, snow, rain and bugs flying by. I think it’s best to turn off notifications in that case. That is what we had to do.

The video quality is amazing! I am very impressed by the quality of the video is supplies (live feed). Even the night time mode looks really good. Our previous camera only provided us with grainy video/live feed and the night time images were the worse.

If you are an avid online shopper, like I am. This would be great to have to keep an eye out for your deliveries. Sadly, many people have their deliveries stolen off their porch or by their front door. With this camera you can see the entire area and see if anyone you don’t know approaches your home and takes your things.

This is also great to have when you are on vacation and away from home. It’s a comforting feeling knowing that your home and things are being carefully watched and monitored.

You can get a better quality of night vision if you want to do that, but there is a bright LED light that stays on when you opt for that option. I don’t like the bright light in the room where it’s located, so we just stick with the regular night vision.

You can set this up with Google Home or Amazon Echo. We have an Amazon Alexa, so we are unable to connect it to that.

Overall we are very pleased with the ease of set up, the quality of the video/streaming, the ability to movie it if need be (wire free), and the wide angle. I can’t wait to see how well the recording aspect works, once we get around to buying the card we need for it.
