Wow. Can you believe it? It’s the last week of summer camp with #CampWarnerBros. We’ve been together for the past eight weeks filled with fun activities and great family friendly films. I’m truly shocked by how quickly this time has gone – two months! WOW!
What has been your favorite activity thus far? I liked the the Scooby Snack recipe from week #4. I also liked the idea of the Gummy Bear Slime from week #3, I just didn’t execute it correctly.
I hope that you have been cherishing this time with your family and friends. I hope that you have been taking a lot of photos and videos to remind you of the summer of 2020, no matter how crazy this summer has been.
I enjoy sharing family photos with family and friends on social media. It’s a great way to stay connected across the miles and to show everyone how much my kids have grown over the years.
Making videos has never seen our strong point. We have taken plenty of videos over the years, but they are kind of boring if you ask me, or they are just so random that they don’t really hold people’s interest, except the grandparents.
Some people are great at making videos. So much so that they can make videos go viral on social media. I’m lucky if I get ten views on a video, let alone thousands, if not millions, like others have accomplished. I find that amazing!
Doing something funny, like a dance, is a sure fire way of making your video go viral. Here is a great example, it’s a dance by Steve Urkel from the popular series Family Matters.
Ha Ha. That is too funny!
Steve Urkel was played by actor Jaleel White. I found a current picture of him on Pinterest (I do not know the copyright holder – if you know, please tell me so I can give credit).
WOW! He sure grew up.
My family and I used to love to watch the television series, Family Matters, which stared Steve Urkel and the Winslow family. The series ran from 1989 – 1997. It’s the third longest running series staring a prodomiently black family/cast (The Jeffersons and Tyler Perry’s House of Pain ranked #1 and #2).
My husband and I used to watch the series back in the day. My kids also watched the series too, but in syndicate since the series stopped before my kids were even born. They used to enjoy the series too. Of course Steve Urkel was their favorite character. I think it should have been called the Steve Urkel show.
Warner Brothers was kind enough to send me a code to download the first season of the show, so I could re-live it with my husband and kids. There are twenty-two episodes in the first season (we’re at episode 17).
It was great to relive this show (It’s amazing how much I remember after all these years). It was fun to see how much the actors have changed since the series began. I was also able to sing the theme song WORD FOR WORD, as if I JUST heard it. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast, but I can remember the lyrics to a television show I haven’t watched in about fifteen years.
Baby Richie is SO CUTE!
If you are a fan of the series and you would like to see it again, you can now download it on digital. It’s available on Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, VUDU, Microsoft and on YouTube. You can also purchase the series on Amazon, Walmart, Target and Best Buy.
I have enjoyed watching the episodes thus far. It’s wholesome, family fun entertainment. There is no need to worry about sex, nudity, violence or bad language. I also like that the family deals with real life situations, with a lot of humor mixed in.
As part of this week’s camp activity, we were suppose to re-create the Urkel video that I featured above. Sadly, my kids would not go for it, and I can’t really do much with my wonky arm (I’m having surgery on Monday 8/24/2020) to have it fixed.
Just because I wasn’t able to do the video, that doesn’t mean that you and your camper(s) can’t give it a whirl. If you do, I would LOVE to see it. Please send me a link to the video in the comments section of this post.
