Check out these new movies coming soon to a theater near you.

My husband and I try to go on as many “date nights” as possible. Most of the time we get dinner and a see a movie.

This weekend my husband and I celebrated the 23rd anniversary of our first date. That might sound silly to some people, but it means a lot to us. We are grateful that we got together. Eight months later we eloped. People didn’t think our marriage would last after only knowing each other for eight months, but we proved them wrong. This October we will also celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary.

We had planned on going to dinner, a movie and spend the night at a hotel, just to get away for a bit. Sadly, there ere really no movies in the theater that struck our fancy, so we ended up going to the comedy club. We saw a comedian named Michael Kosta. He’s on the Daily Show. He was HYSTERICAL. If you ever have a chance to see him live, I would recommend it. He had me and my husband in tears because we were laughing so hard.

I’m disappointed that there were no movies playing that we were interested in, but I’m glad we had the chance to see Michael Kosta.

Thankfully, there are plenty of movies on the horizon that I am super excited to see. I have already posted about a few of them (Aladin, Dumbo, Lion King, Star Wars…). Here are a few more movies that I am super excited to see.

Some friendships transcend lifetimes. In A Dog’s Journey, the sequel to the heartwarming global hit A Dog’s Purpose, beloved dog Bailey finds his new destiny and forms an unbreakable bond that will lead him, and the people he loves, to places they never imagined.

Bailey (voiced again by Josh Gad) is living the good life on the Michigan farm of his “boy,” Ethan (Dennis Quaid) and Ethan’s wife Hannah (Marg Helgenberger). He even has a new playmate: Ethan and Hannah’s baby granddaughter, CJ. The problem is that CJ’s mom, Gloria (Betty Gilpin), decides to take CJ away. As Bailey’s soul prepares to leave this life for a new one, he makes a promise to Ethan to find CJ and protect her at any cost.

Thus begins Bailey’s adventure through multiple lives filled with love, friendship and devotion as he, CJ (Kathryn Prescott), and CJ’s best friend Trent (Henry Lau) experience joy and heartbreak, music and laughter, and few really good belly rubs.

Directed by Emmy winner Gail Mancuso (TV’s Modern Family), A Dog’s Journey is produced by Gavin Polone (A Dog’s Purpose), and written by W. Bruce Cameron & Cathryn Michon, and Maya Forbes & Wally Wolodarsky, based on the best-selling novel by Cameron. The film, from Amblin Entertainment and Reliance Entertainment, in association with Walden Media and Alibaba Pictures, will be distributed by Universal Pictures domestically, and by Universal Pictures and Amblin Partners internationally.

I loved the film A Dog’s Purpose. It did make me cry – a lot – but it was also a “feel good” movie, especially at the end. I honestly didn’t know that they were coming up with a sequel for the film.

I’m planning on seeing this film, and I’ll be sure to bring a box of tissues.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 will follow summer 2016’s blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy will produce the sequel to the comedy that had the best opening ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 will see the return of writer Brian Lynch (Minions) and once again be directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me series, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax). www.TheSecretLifeofPets.com.

We really enjoyed the original film. This is another movie franchise that I was unaware that there was a sequel in the making.

It’s great see that the original cast is back.

As a pet owner, I have always wondered what our pets were up to when we were all at work or not at home. I’m sure they didn’t go on crazy adventures like the pets in this film, but it’s still fun to think that they could still have an adventure or two.

It’s l968 in America.  Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large.  It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.

There is no official trailer for this film, yet, but here are a few brief clips that are worth checking out.

If you are a frequent site reader, you’ll know that I love the horror movie genre. From these clips I am super excited to see this film.

I have seen the books, but I have never read them. Now I want to read all three of the books. In fact, I have them all in my Amazon shopping cart.

This film was written by Guillermo del Toro.  He’s the creative genius behind the films Pan’s Labyrinth,  The Shape of Water, Hellboy, The Strain (I LOVED the series), and Pacific Rim, to name a few. I have a feeling this film is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see it.

Are you excited to see any of these films? If so, which one/ones?
