Are you a fan of the Cinderella Story movie franchise? Were you aware that there are currently six movies in the series? I didn’t know that.
My family and I are fans of the original film, A Cinderella Story (2004) that stared Hilary Duff. Our daughter was especially obsessed with the film and saw it more times than I can count.
I also saw the second film, Another Cinderella Story (2008) that stared Selena Gomez.
The other film’s include A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011), staring Lucy Hale, A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (2016), staring Sofia Carson, and A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (2019), staring Laura Marano/
The latest film, A Cinderella Story: Starstruck (2021) is now available on digital and DVD.
I was sent a copy of the film to review, as well as the cutest farm themed cookies – some of which were able to paint.
A Cinderella Story: Starstruck stars Bailee Madison, Michael Evans, Lillian Doucet, Richard Harmon, April Telek, and Matty Finochio.
Finley Tremaine (Madison) lives on a farm in a small town. She lives with her stepmother (Telek) and two stepsiblings. Finley does all the farm work by herself, and tends to her stepmother and stepsiblings.
Finley is forced to sleep in the barn with the farm animals. One of her favorites is a pig named John Ham.
Finely dreams of being a famous actress, but how could a farm girl who lives in a barn and tends to her family fulfill her dream?
One day one her stepsister Saffron announces that a film crew was coming to town. They needed actors and extras for the film. Finley knew that this was the chance she was hoping for.
The audition didn’t go as planned at all. It was a major fail, however, Finely was determined to get a part in the film.
Finely decided to try out again, but this time she auditioned as a Cowboy named “Huck.” To her surprise she lands the role.
How long can Finely keep up the charade? What if she’s found out? And what can she do about the crush she has on the lead actor, Jackson Stone. To find out, pick up a copy of A Cinderella Story: Starstruck. Look for it where ever movies are sold. You can also purchase or rent the film on digital.
When I first read the synopsis of this film, I thought it sounded a little corny (no pun intended). But, I liked the first two Cinderella Story movies, and I think Bailee Madison is a wonderful young actress (I thought she was adorable in Just Go With It), so I asked for a review copy.
This is a really sweet movie, much better than I initially thought. I like that this movie is a bit more unique than the other Cinderella Story movies. Never in a million years would I put the “Cinderella-like” character in a farm setting, nor would I expect her to dress up as a boy. The animals in the movie, especially John Ham, were a delightful addition too (I’m a huge animal lover).
The acting was wonderful. I think all of the young actors in this film deserve a lot of credit, most especially Bailee Madison. She totally rocked this role. In fact. it’s the perfect role for her, as if it was written with her in mind. This is such an “unglamorous” role for a young actress. She’s wearing farm girl clothing and falling in mud. I also did not know she can sing (she’s a great singer).
There is some music in this film. The first starts out with a song. I THINK it’s called “My Own Story.” It’s a catchy tune. Some of the other songs, like the one “We’re Sisters” (I think that is what it was called) was not that good.
The way Finely can change from Huck into Finely and back again is reminiscent of the Amanda Bynes film, She’s the Man.
Overall I think it was a fun and entertaining movie to watch. It’s ideal for pretty much everyone, young and old. I didn’t find anything inappropriate about it.
Along with a copy of the film, I also receive a package of ADORABLE (and yummy!) farm themed cookies, in honor of the film’s release. The cookies are from Little Sparks Cookies.
Look at how ADORABLE these cookies are. They were so cute that I didn’t have the heart to bite into them. My kids on the other hand, they have no problem whatso ever. Ha Ha.
The cookies are DELICIOUS!
In addition to the pre-made cookies, I also receive some cookies to color, including edible food coloring. All I had to do was wet the paint brush, brush it on the food coloring, then “paint” the cookies.
I accidentally broke the flower when I was taking it out of the bag.
I tried to layer colors on the flower (orange and yellow with a little red mixed in) in hopes of giving it a more realistic look. I didn’t succeed, but I think it still looks OK.
The cookies were not fully dry when I took the photo, which is why they shiny (wet) in spots.
