The older i get, the more I regret not taking better care of my skin, especially my face, when I was younger. I grew up in the generation that would slather baby oil all over your skin and lie out in the sun for hours, essentially turning yourself into a human “bacon.” I regret that now because I’ve had six “suspicious” moles removed my my back and my legs over the years. Those scars are reminder that I should have taken better care of my skin.
SUNSCREEN! Please wear sunscreen!
As for my face, well, that is another story. I also did not wear sunscreen on my face. When I was a teen I’d often go to bed without washing my make-up off. And I never even thought about moisturizers until I was in my 30’s, and by then I did a lot of damage to my skin.
Fast forward to these days. I pay a lot of attention to my skin, especially my face. I know I cannot totally erase the damage that was done in the past, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make my face look and feel wonderful.
When it comes to beauty products, I always try to look for ones that are made with ingredients I can pronounce and understand what they are. That is NOT easy. Just pick up your favorite skin care product and see if you can read and understand the ingredients. It’s scary to see how many chemicals we put on our bodies.
I also use products that are cruelty free. I am an animal lover and I’d never want to give my money to companies that experiment on animals.
Recently I was sent some products to review from the brand Soo’AE (pronounced SOO-WAY). Soo’AE is a K-Beauty brand (Korean Beauty). Their high quality products for the face, body and hair are formulated for everyone to use (all skin types). Their products are green and clean, as well as vegan, natural and cruelty free.
Even though they are a K-Beauty brand, their products are available here in the United States at places like CVS, Walgreens and Amazon.
I was sent some products to review from Soo’AE. I received to review a variety of face masks and their Vegan Phyto Collagen Collection.
I’m not one to wear sheet masks. I feel silly wearing them around my family. If I do use one, I make sure no one is at home. I also think that sheet masks feel weird.
I was sent the following sheet masks. They are known as “Food Story Masks” because they utilize important ingredients from foods that are nourishing and beneficial to our skin.
Pomegranate – Renew
Pure pomegranate extract infused vegan-friendly mask improves the skin’s overall appearance.
Pineapple – Glow
Pure pineapple extract infused vegan-friendly mask delivers ultimate glowing skin.
Blueberry – Antioxidant
Pure blueberry extract infused vegan-friendly mask protects the skin as antioxidants with a unique natural purple color woven sheet.
Avocado – Nourishing
Pure avocado oil-infused vegan-friendly mask nourishes and revitalizes the skin.
Banana – Moisturizing
Pure banana extract infused vegan-friendly mask moisturizes the skin with a unique natural ivory yellow color woven sheet.
Kiwi – Toning
Pure kiwi extract infused vegan-friendly mask assists to tone up dull skin.
All of the masks are light in color, but the Blueberry mask is dark. It looks like you are wearing fruit strips on your face. Ha Ha.
These are all single use masks. They are eco-friendly too.
The face masks are easy to use. Simply wash your face (apply a toner or serum if you like), place the mask on your face (make sure to line up the holes with your eyes, nose and mouth), sit back and relax for 15-20 minutes, then peel off the mask and dispose of it. If there is any residue left on your face when you peel off the mask, simply pat it into your skin (it will soak in).
The masks are a decent size. I have a chubby, round face and it fit it pretty good for the most part.
There is a lot of serum in the masks (which is what you want to go into your skin). A few times some of it would drip down my face and under my chin and jawline. I simply rubbed it in, after all, the area under your jaw and chin are skin too and could also benefit from these.
Don’t worry about the fragrance. Even though these are “fruity,” there was barely any scent. The scent they do have is pleasant. Sometimes strong scents can give me headaches. I did not have a problem with these.
I’ve only tried half of these masks thus far (pineapple, avocado and banana). So far, so good. I love how my skin feels afterwards. My skin feels moisturized and “calm.” I will only use them at night because the last thing I want is to put make-up on afterwards and mess up the refreshed feeling these masks give you.
I also receive to review the brand’s Phyto Collagen Special Edition Collection which features a cleansing foam and cream.
The foam cleanser cleanses and exfoliates the skin while improving skin texture and overall skin condition.
I love the cleanser. The #1 thing I hate about most cleansers is that they leave my face feeling “raw” or sticky. I think plain soap and water is better than a lot of the cleansers on the market.
This cleaners is nice. It’s easy to use, washes on and rinses off well, and actually leaves my skin feeling clean. In fact, it feels so good that I don’t feel like I have to quickly slap on moisturizer. It feels good “as is.”
The cream is good for both day and night and features collagen, which our skin needs. It’s lightweight, which is something I really like about it. I don’t like moisturizers that leave my skin feeling “heavy.”
The Phyto Cream is anti-aging, soothing, nourishing, and keeps skin looking moisturized and supple. It also improves elasticity and helps to revitalize dull and tired skin.
This is NICE cream It doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. It goes on nicely and soaks in quickly. It does leave my skin feeling very soft and moisturized.
I cannot say that it’s improving elasticity, but it does feel great on my skin and it does leave my skin feeling perfectly moisturized.
