Do you have any plans for your summer vacation? If not you should start making your summer plans now.
Due to the fact that we have many pets (two of which have medical issues) we don’t venture too far from home. Instead we do a lot of day trips – places we can go and be home in 6-8 hours (if need be we have a neighbor walk our dog for us).
We live in NY, not too far from New York City. That is one of our day trip destinations. There is a lot to see and do there.
Another destination is New Jersey. We’re fortunate to live really close to New Jersey (I can cross the NY/NJ border in about 15 minutes). Just like New York, New Jersey has a lot to offer visitors and residents.
New Jersey was hit really hard during Hurricane Sandy. Many of it’s popular tourist destinations, most especially the New Jersey shore, were hit very hard.
the Jersey Shore is Going Strong, Now is an excellent time to come and discover New Jersey and all it has to offer. My family is already planning a trip to the shore. We’re looking at trying a different NJ beach location this time around. We hear that Long Beach Island is nice (although I’ll miss going to Point Pleasant, that is my personal favorite).
I’m thrilled that the Jersey shore is up and running and waiting for you to plan your next trip and discover everything there is to see and do at the Jersey shore. In fact now is a great time to start planning your Jersey Shore vacation or weekend escape before the summer rush is on. Memorial weekend is just around the corner, the unofficial start to summer. From that point on hotels will start filling up.
My family LOVES going to Point Pleasant Beach. It’s one of the many beaches found along the 130 miles of shore in New Jersey. We get down there early (around 10 AM) so we can find parking close to the beach. Then we stay on the beach for several hours and head home before the evening commute traffic kicks in. By the time the traffic starts we’re usually almost home. We often stop at our favorite restaurant in New Jersey before heading home.
We once spent a few days in Point Pleasant with a couple of families we are friends with. We had a blast between the beach, boardwalk, and local activities such as mini golf and the aquarium.
The Jersey shore also has plenty of festivals, concerts and events planned. Some upcoming events that sound interesting include the Jersey Shore Wine Festival, World Oceans Day: Celebrate Sea Turtles, New Jersey Seafood Festival and Oceanfest.
The photos you see in this post are mine taken at the Jersey shore.

There is more to New Jersey then just the shore. New Jersey has plenty of activities, events and fun things to do for adults, children and families.
If you like to go shopping, New Jersey has plenty of mall, outlets and antique stores. They also have 0% tax which is great for us New Yorkers who have to pay sales tax on just about everything.
For those who enjoy history, New Jersey is the home to fascinating historic sites, towns and villages, lighthouses, architectural wonders, museums, farms and orchards and many other attractions.
If it’s family fun you are after you’ll find more than enough fun things to see and do in the Garden State. Three places worth checking out are Great Adventure amusement park, Space Farm Zoo & Museum (I went to Space Farms when I was little) and Land of Make Believe (another place I went to when I was little).
Those who enjoy outdoor adventures New Jersey offers hundreds of state and national parks and forests, recreation areas and county parks, plus 4,100 fresh waterways and 130 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline.
New Jersey is easy to get to from New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
There is so much going on in New Jersey. They are going strong and ready for you.
