Disney’s The Lion King available on Digital HD and Blu-ray

I know there are A LOT of die hard Disney fans. I can honestly say that I have never met a person who DIDN’T like at least one Disney film.

I was fortunate that I had the chance to see many Disney films in the theater, even though they were released decades before I was born. A local movie theater used to play a different Disney film each week during the summer months and my mom and I had a “movie date” once a week to go and see the films. I loved it! I had the opportunity to see such classics as Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Fantasia on the big screen.

It would be hard for me to tell you my #1 one favorite Disney film of all time, but one of the top five (if not top three) would have to be The Lion King. The Lion King is now available on Digital HD and Blu-ray as of today.

In case you have never seen the film and you are unfamiliar with the story, The Lion King, here is a brief synopsis.

The Lion King is the story about a young lion cub named Simba. Simba’s father, Mufasa, is the King of the Pride Lands. When Simba gets older he’ll take his place as the new King of the Pride Lands after his father.

Simba has an uncle named Scar. Scar is jealous of Mufasa and HE wants to be the King of the Pride Lands. The only way he can do that is if he eliminates both Mufasa and Simba. He does succeed in killing Mufasa and he is able to convince Simba it was HIS fault that his father died, causing Simba to run away from home.

Simba meets up with two interesting characters – a Meerkat named Timon and a Warthog named Pumbaa. They befriend young Simba and he joins them on their many adventures.

Time passes and Simba meets up with an old friend from the pride, Nala. Nala tells Simba that Scar has taken over the pride and its in much despair. She pleads with Simba to return to take his rightful place as the King of the Pride Lands. Simba is reluctant because he still feels responsible for his father’s death.

Will Simba return to challenge Scar? Will he finally fullfill his destiny and become the King of the Pride Lands? To find out you need to pick up or download The Lion King. Look for it where ever movies are sold.

FYI… I met the artist who drew Scar in the film, Andreas Deja, during a press junket for Disney. He drew me Scar and autographed it for me. I keep it hanging above my desk. I love it!

This film has it all – action, adventure, romance, comedy as well as an incredible soundtrack featuring Academy Award® winning music (1994: Best Original Score and Best Original Song, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”).

I will have to admit that there is a really sad part of the film. I have seen this movie about two dozen times and every single time I watch it I get teary-eyed at one part of the film, as well as the end of the film. If you have seen the film I’m sure you know what I am talking about.

There are plenty of bonus features available. If you have the opportunity I would recommend you check them out. They are very interesting and they will give you a new appreciation for the film.

There are A LOT of bonus features, so I’ll just highlight a few.
