This post might not be applicable for my male readers (sorry fellas). This post is aimed towards all the lovely ladies that read my posts.
I am not too keen on admitting this, but I have not worn a bra in ages. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that I’ve never found a bra that fits me comfortably.
I am a plus size woman. When I was younger I had a breast reduction and lift after losing nearly 200 pounds. My surgeon ended up making my breasts too small. I went from a C/D cup to a B cup. That’s not so bad, but the width around me is too big for such a small cup size. So either I can find bras that fit me all the way around, but have large cups, or I find a bra with a cup size that works for me, but are so tight all the way around that I can’t wear them for long.
Sigh… what’s a lady to do?
Because I can’t find the perfect bra, I have resorted to wearing tank tops. They work as my “bra” for all intensive purposes.
Wearing a tank top as a bra is not so bad. Sometimes they show (length), and they don’t provide any support. They also don’t stop the “girls” from showing off the fact that you are cold (I’m sure most ladies know what I mean).
A while ago I was introduced to a brand that encourages you to “ditch the bra.” The brand is Buzzoms.
Here is some information about the brand.
This Black-owned clothing brand is changing bust support forever! Since launching in January 2021, founder, Black entrepreneur, Marshay Clarke has strived to end the outdated practice and designs of ill-fitting bras and shirts and replace them with sexy, comfortable and supportive pieces instead. Buzzoms’ clothing is made to be worn without a bra, so you can live life knowing your and your girls are supported.
Buzzoms sent me a black tank top to review.
I debated on whether or not I wanted to post a picture of me wearing it. Honestly, I was planning on it, but my flabby arms make me very self conscious. If you follow my blog, you know that I don’t normally post photos of myself. It’s a self conscious thing (and low self-esteem). I don’t feel comfortable showing people what I look like.
I received the Buzzoms Lush Tank in the color black (I wear mostly black tank tops).
Right away I could feel the difference, even before putting it on. This tank top is very well made. It had some nice weight to it. It’s not flimsy or see through like the tanks I normally wear. The tanks I normally wear are cheap ones from Walmart. There is a noticeable difference between them and a “boutique” style tank top like this one.
It did feel a little snug the first few times I wear it, but it eventually molded it’s self (for lack of a better description) to my body and curves.
It’s comfortable to wear. In fact, I don’t even notice that I have it one. It’s comfy like an old pair of sweats (I’m sure everyone has at least one paid of comfy sweats).
Here is some additional information about this tank top.
- Braless, includes the boob pocket
- No sweat, moisture wicking fabric
- Made of soft, natural fibers
- 68% bamboo, 27% cotton, 5% spandex
- Available in black, olive and tan
- Smooth, slimming fabric
- 2.5” thick straps
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the straps. They are wider than the tanks I normally wear, but I have had no issues with these straps. They stay in place nicely.
Its winter, so I haven’t had the opportunity to wear this in warmer weather to see if the material wicks away sweat and moisture. From what I feel, I am sure that it does.
There is an extra layer on the inside to help with the “girls.”
I wear this under my clothing. It’s made to be worn under clothing, or “as is.” I don’t normally wear tanks in the warm months (again, it’s a self esteem thing) but I do wear them around the house. I can definitely see me wearing this tank this summer.
Buzzoms has another style of tank (sexier) as well as adorable dresses, both of which are designed in a way that you won’t really need your bra.

I will have to check them out! I am also plus sized and rarely wear a bra because I am just not comfortable. Thanks for spreading the news about this brand!
