I have a bit of a “sweet tooth.” I know that too many sweets are not good for you, so I try to make sure when I have a sweet treat that it’s something special. I rather have a slice of homemade pie than a chocolate bar I found at check out in the grocery store. I’m sure many people know what I mean.
I’m not much of a baker. To be honest, my husband is the one who bakes in our family. He bakes cakes. As for cookies, we both have a tendency to ruin them, even the pre-made ones you simply plop on a cookie sheet and bake.
We never have anything too fancy for dessert at home. We either have a cake my husband baked, or premade goodies from the bakery.
Cheesecake is something we rarely have. It’s not easy to make (especially for non-bakers), and the ones we get from the bakery are huge (my husband doesn’t like cheesecake, only me and my daughter). It’s pointless to buy a huge cheesecake for two people.
There is a brand that not only makes the perfect sized cheesecakes, but they are also better for you than traditional cheesecakes. The brand is Good & Tasty Bakes.
Good & Tasty Bakes lets you enjoy scrumptious dessert without compromising your clean and healthy lifestyle. It’s heaven for cheesecake lovers, from classic to seasonal favorites that are filled with flavor, not yucky preservatives or artificial flavors. A team of experienced bakers makes the cheesecakes from scratch in small batches. You’ll see the difference in exceptional taste, quality, and appearance.
I was sent some cheesecakes to review. Needless to say, I was waiting for that shipment to arrive. I think I stalked the delivery guys. Ha Ha.
I was sent to review a classic (plain) cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake and key lime cheesecake to review.
First and foremost, these cheesecakes are the ideal size for a few people. They are small, but you can get several slices from them. The box says four servings, but you can easily get 6 servings if you cut it just right.
Each cheesecake is 5″ in size and weighs 16 ounces. A serving size is 360 calories.
All three are gluten-free too.
These cheesecakes are so rich and creamy. They might be small in size, but they are big in flavor. They also look “heavy” (if you know what I mean), but they tasted very “light” (hopefully that makes sense?).
The crust is made with almonds, not grains. You can taste a bit of nuttiness in the crust, and when you combine it with the taste of the cheesecake, it’s a perfect pairing.
I’ve never had a chocolate cheesecake before, or a key lime cheesecake. I have had key lime pie, but not a key lime cheesecake. In fact, I thought that was an odd flavor at first (lime and cheese?). I was so wrong! Lime and cheese actually go together great.
The chocolate cheesecake is oh-so-good and decadent. I love chocolate, and I eat some every day (usually a few miniatures or Kisses). This chocolate cheesecake was chocolatery enough to satify my constant craving for chocolate. I wish I had whipped cream (more so Cool Whip) to put on it when we enjoyed it. That combination would have been out of this world!
I have had cheesecake in very fancy (and expensive) restaurants before, and these cheesecakes definitely quantify as gourmet cheesecakes. It’s especially amazing because these are a healthier for you version of the classic dessert. You would never know it from the taste and presentation.
These are not very sweet, which I like. Sometimes store bought cheesecakes have a lot of sugar in them and are overly sweet. Cheesecakes shouldn’t be sweet like a traditional cake.
The cheesecakes will last up to 10 days in the refrigerator, or up to a year in the freezer. Trust me, they are so good I don’t foresee them lasting a year in anyone’s fridge. Ha Ha.
The cheesecakes from Good & Tasty Bakes are plain. You can add fruits, chocolate or other “toppings” to decorate them and make them look fancy.
