For the most part my life isn’t too stressful (thankfully). However, there are times at work that leave me very frazzled – a feeling that can carry with me when I get home or even into the days to come, depending on the situation. What triggers my “lingering stress” might not seem so bad to some people, but for me, stress can sometimes stick to me like gum on the bottom of your shoe (neither are pleasant experiences).
I suffer from insomnia too. I can go weeks and sleep well, then for some reason I get hit with insomnia and will go weeks where I am unable to sleep.
I’ve talked to my doctor about it. He says that I am unable to “turn my brain off,” and I stress over things too much. He even joked that I stress about things that haven’t even happened yet (which is true). I also have a bit of anxiety for no logical reason.
I’ll give you an example. I have a doctor’s appointment four days from the time I am writing this. It’s just a regular yearly check up, nothing to worry about. But for me, I’m stressing out about it.
Sigh…
I already take enough medications due to health issues. The last thing I want to do is add anything more to the growing “pharmacy” in my cabinet. That is why I am always looking for homeopathic, more natural, solutions to certain health issues. “
I do enjoy a good cup of coffee, sometimes a little too much. I was getting in the bad habit of drinking upwards of four cups of coffee on a daily basis.
A few months ago I decided I wanted to replace a cup or two of coffee with non-caffeinated herbal tea. I enjoy tea, including herbal teas. I even got my son into drinking herbal teas. In fact, he rarely drinks coffee anymore – only herbal teas and water.
A few weeks ago I received to review some herbal teas from the brand Good Pharma.
Good Pharma is a renowned creator of premium mushroom tea and coffee, dedicated to crafting exceptional beverages that promote well-being and vitality. With a focus on sourcing the highest quality mushrooms and employing innovative techniques, Good Pharma offers a truly transformative sensory experience.
I know what some of you might be thinking – mushroom tea and coffee. I know that many people are not a fan of mushrooms (my husband simply refers to mushrooms as fungus, ha ha). I happen to love mushrooms. No worries here, Good Pharma tea does not taste like mushrooms.
I received to review the brand’s No Worries tea and Rest Assured teas.
No Worries
Good Pharma’s No Worries is targeted to push back on stress. No Worries is a blend of adaptogens and herbs that target stress for relief of tension and anxiety to promote a balanced, calm body and mind. Inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, this tea contains Premium whole leaf caffeine-free rooibos, ashwagandha, jujube seed extract, and more.
I’ll be honest, I find traditional Chinese medicine fascinating. I’m on an app (Red Note) that is the Chinese version of TikTok. There I have learned about some really interesting things about Chinese medicine. One would assume it works because they have been using these homeopathic remedies for hundreds of years.
I went into this with the mindset that this was herbal tea. I never gave “mushroom” a thought. You would never guess it. I think it’s because it’s also made with a lot of other ingredients such as Rooibos, Lemon Balm, and Passion Flower.
Case in point, I had my son try this tea. He knew nothing about the ingredients. He thought it was very good.
I really like the taste of this tea. You don’t need honey, sugar or any type of a sweetener (at least I didn’t). It’s flavorful enough.
I do find this tea very soothing and relaxing. It’s a lot more effective compared to other herbal teas I’ve purchased from the grocery store that are suppose to be relaxing too.
I take an Ashwagandha supplement. This tea contains the same ingredient. I like that I can supplement and/or replace taking the Ashwagandha supplement with this tea.
Dare I say that this tea makes me happy too. It just makes me calm and at ease. It’s like drinking my worries away…
Rest Assured
Drift into deep, restorative sleep in less time; wake feeling clear-headed and well-rested. An infusion of clinically-potent botanical and mushroom extracts + herbs designed to help you go to sleep faster and improve sleep quality.
Rest Assured features a well-known Traditional Chinese Medicine formula called Suan Zao Ren Tang. Composed of five herbs, Suan Zao Ren Tang contains Jujube seed extract, Poria mushroom extract, Sichuan Lovage root extract, Anemarrhena root extract, and Licorice root extract. Suan Zao Ren Tang is a clinically-studied treatment method that has been widely used to treat insomnia and anxiety disorders for thousands of years.
This is another tasty tea. It’s flavorful and has a nice aroma.
I have tried a few different herbal teas that are suppose to help you relax and fall asleep. They are popular, well-known brands you can find in the grocery store. It’s been “hit or miss” with them. Sometimes they help me to fall asleep, other times they don’t. It depends on the reason “why” I can’t fall asleep.
This tea has been “hit or miss” too. I think the times it hasn’t worked successfully for me is because I’m TOO stressed out/frazzled and/or my anxiety level is high.
What I do notice is different than other teas that help you sleep is that when I drink this before bedtime, whether it helps me to fall asleep quickly or not, is that I wake up restful. I don’t toss and turn all night. Even if I don’t get enough hours sleep, I don’t wake up feeling groggy and “out of it.” I can function rather well.
Overall I have enjoyed these teas. They taste great and I love that they are made with quality ingredients. They are also effective (for the most part) as far as what they were specifically made for (stress and sleep). Since not everyone’s bodies are the same, not everything works the same way for one person compared to another.
There are only two “downsides” to these teas.
For one, they are not budget friendly. As much as I have enjoyed them, they are not something I could drink on a daily basis. I simply couldn’t afford it, which is a shame.
Second, these teas are made with a “pour over” type of bag. You open the tea bag up over your mug and pour the water on top of it and it filters it’s way through the tea. It didn’t fit any of the mugs we owned. These work better for smaller mugs. In order to use these I had to hold on to one end of it while pouring the water over it with my other hand. Perhaps if they offered a more traditional tea bag design it would be easier.
You can see what I mean in the brand’s photo above. You can see it over the cup.
I tried to take a photo but it was not easy to do while holding the tea bag with one hand and trying to use my phone with the other.
Good Phama offers two other teas, “Brain Gain” and “Resilience.”
