The warm weather is coming! The warm weather is coming! Or at least I hope so. After the long, miserable, bitter cold winter we just had I’m actually looking forward to warmer temperatures – and I don’t like heat!
The warm weather brings a lot of my family’s favorite things – long walks in the park, hanging out by the river, barbecues, watching the fireworks at the ballpark from our balcony every Saturday night and going on fun adventures.
The warmer weather means entertaining friends and family whether its a simple backyard barbecue, pool party or a more formal sit down dinner.
When you entertain you want to make sure you offer you guests plenty of delicious foods. You also want to make sure that you do it in style. It just doesn’t seem the same when you toss some treats on some paper plates or mix-matched chipped bowls. You want to make sure everything looks enticing for your guests.
Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay has a wonderful line of products available a Kohl’s that will help you to “Master the grill, cook to perfection and entertain with ease.” From pots and pans to flatware and tablecloths, Bobby Flay has products to suit all your cooking and entertaining needs.
I met Bobby Flay a few years ago at a Hellmann’s event. I had the chance to interview him one on one too. He showed us how to make some of his favorite sandwiches and we even had the opportunity to create our own sandwiches and have Bobby Flay critique them.
I was asked if I wanted to review a couple of items from the Bobby Flay collection at Kohl’s. It was hard to narrow down my choices because he has some really nice products that I would love to add to my kitchen.
When I was looking over the products I had “entertaining” in mind. I LOVE to entertain and try and do it as often as possible. I also wanted to keep my family in mind and look for a product or products we could use on a more regular basis (not just for entertaining). I decided upon the Bobby Flay Chip ‘n’ Dip Set and the Bobby Flay Hammered 3-Tiered Serving Rack.
I chose the Chip ‘n’ Dip set because my family enjoys chips and salsa from time to time. I normally pour the salsa in a small cereal bowl. I think having a set like this makes it more presentable.
There was some MINOR assembly required. You have to put in the top frame piece for the small bowl when you take it out of the box. It was a piece of cake. Plus you can take it apart when not needed it easier to store. Simply lie the small bowl and frame piece inside the bigger bowl and tuck it inside the cabinet.
The glass really has that blue-ish hue to it too.
The set wasn’t as big as I thought it was going to be but that is OK. The big bowl fits and entire bag of Tostitos chips and the small bowl is enough for a regular size jar of salsa.
Having the salsa right next to the chips makes it very convenient and less messy.
I love the way the set looks too. It’s functional enough for every day use but it’s also great when you want to create a more formal situation.
You don’t have to use this set for just salsa and chips. You can use it for a variety of other food pairings.
The Hammered 3-Tiered Serving Rack I wanted with “entertaining” in mind. It’s too fancy for every day use. I thought it would be a lovey way to serve desserts (cupcakes, cookies, candy…) and/or smaller foods like finger sandwiches, appetizers or crudité.
This set also required some assembly. It was a wee bit more than the other set. There are a few pieces that you have to put together but its easy enough to do because they just slide into place.
I suppose you could glue the pieces together if you were to use it often. I like the convenience of being able to take it apart and put it back in the box for storage.
Just like with the other set the glass trays with this set also have a blue-ish hue to them. I love the texture to them. There are several Bobby Flay pieces that have the same type of glass (color and texture).
Over all I really like both sets. My only concern would be the glass (the bowls and trays). The glass it a bit thin. I would worry about it being bumped and crack. Both sets would be useless if any of the glass pieces broke. I have no doubt they would shatter into a million pieces if they were dropped. I would handle the glass pieces with caution when handling and washing them.
Aside from that I think both sets are wonderful and would make a great addition to any home. You can also use the pieces on their own.
You can find these and other Bobby Flay products at a Kohl’s store near you. For your nearest location visit www.Kohls.com.
What do you think of these products? Have you seen Bobby Flay products at your local Kohl’s? Have you purchased any?
