I have heard, although I cannot confirm that its true, that each of us is sensitive in one of the five senses: Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell, Touch. Some people have very good eye sight (not me! I’m blind as a bat without my glasses). Others are very sensitive to the way things taste. As for me, I would have to say that I am sensitive to scents. I seem to smell things that other people (such as my family) doesn’t smell. Even the slightest scent of something can bring up old memories. For example, even the slightest whiff of Lilac brings me back to my childhood. I had a Lilac bush (or is it a tree?) outside my bedroom window.
I personally feel that scents help create a mood and add to the ambiance of a home. When people come into my home I would very much love for my home to smell warm and inviting. We have four cats and a hairy dog. I really don’t want them to smell our mini-zoo.
I find scents relaxing and calming. Scents can also effect my mood. The smell of a REAL Christmas tree makes me feel very happy and giddy, just like a little school girl. Sadly it’s next to impossible to find a REAL Christmas tree scent. I found one hot oil that comes very close but it’s only sold around the holidays and usually by the time I know its available its out of stock. Sigh…
I guess you can say that I am a fan of candles, hot oils, air freshers and everything and anything that can make my home smell great. I also love to rotate scents. After a couple of days your nose gets used to a certain scent and you no longer smell it. Have you had this happen before? I honestly hate it when that happens, especially if it’s a beautiful scent that I enjoy.
If a scented product is easily portable I like to move it from room to room, that way I don’t get used to the scent. Having five pets and two children I have to be very careful what I use and where I use it. I can’t tell you how many times my kids have knocked over reed diffusers and how paranoid I am with candles around the cats. I also prefer not to spend a small fortune on scents either.
Febreze is one of the brands that I use frequently to make my home smell fresh and clean. I use Febreze spray often on our furniture and I love the furniture polish with Febreze. Even though we really don’t have anything that is real wood I still use it because I love how fresh it makes our home smell. If I’m going to bust my butt to clean every nook and cranny in our shoe box size condo I want our home to smell clean too.
Febreze has a new product which will be available on the market next month called Febreze Set & Refresh. The lovely people over at Febreze sent me a sample to try out.
The Febreze Set & Refresh is a small, portable, plastic unit. It’s about 3″ high and about 5″ wide and is available in a neutral color and has a “wave” design on the one side.
The new Febreze Set & Refresh reminds me of a portable plug-in. The scented piece slips into the unit the same way it does in one of the outlet plug-ins. You don’t have to worry about any messes because everything is neatly contained in a special package. It took me about 5 seconds to set up the Set & Refresh.
I was very surprised at just how quickly the scent was released into the air. I had the unit on the desk next to me and I had to move it on top of the desk because the scent was really strong, much stronger then I expected and certainly a lot stronger then your typical plug-in. Currently I am sitting about 3′ away from the unit and I smell it perfectly, even with four fans and the air conditioning on.
I really like the new Set & Refresh because it’s 100% portable and there is nothing to worry about as far as spills or fire hazards. I could safely set this in my children’s room or some place where the cats hang out and not have to worry about it. If it get knocked over nothing will happen and the unit will continue to work.
Since it’s so portable I can move it to another location once I realize that I am no longer smelling the scent after my nose gets used to it. That means I can pick up 3-4 different Febreze Set & Refresh units in different scents and rotate them from room to room every couple of days. The Set & Refresh will be available in the following scents:
– Linen & Sky
– Spring & Renewal
– Meadows & Rain
– Hawaiian Aloha
– Thai Dragon Fruit
– Apple Spice & Delight
I currently have the Linen & Sky. It’s a fresh, spring-like scent and I find it very pleasant and enjoyable.
Two other reasons why I enjoy this new product line from Febreze is because they don’t require batteries and they retail for $2.99 each, which compared to other air fresheners is a very good price.
