I’m not always a fan of wearing make up. I can go out and about without wearing any, but I prefer to wear a little something to make myself look better. After all, when you feel like you LOOK good you FEEL good.
I am the person who treats foundation like a necessary evil. For years, my relationship with foundation has been “it’s complicated.” Why? Because I can’t stand the feeling of something “sitting” on my skin, especially all day.
You know that heavy, mask-like sensation where you feel like your pores are screaming for air? That’s me after twenty minutes of wearing traditional liquid foundation. Even if the product is non-comedogenic and technically isn’t clogging my pores, my brain tells me otherwise. It feels thick, it feels suffocating, and in the humidity or heat? Forget about it.
On a normal workday, I usually just dust on some translucent powder and call it a day. It doesn’t hide much, but at least it feels like my face can breathe.
Usually, the very first thing I do the second I walk through my front door is drop my keys and head straight to the sink to scrub my face clean. I just want the “gunk” off. I want my skin to feel lite and airy again.
I’ve been bombarded with videos of cushion foundation compacts on social media. I’m sure most people have seen them too. They looked so easy and satisfying to apply, but I still view them as something that will weigh heavy on my face. I felt like it would feel like another layer to the gross, heavy feeling.
I was sent to review some foundation from the brand Lava Art Cosmetics. I got to try out their “Glow” Foundation Compact, and I genuinely think my makeup routine just changed forever.

The Magic of the Cushion Compact
If you haven’t seen these yet, the delivery system is genius. It’s a sponge soaked in formula, housed in a sleek compact. You use the included puff to “tap” the product onto your skin.
One of the first things that impressed me about Lava Art is their shade range. Often, these types of innovative products only come in three or four generic beige tones. Lava Art actually offers a variety of colors, making it much easier to find an actual match for your undertones rather than just settling for “close enough.”
I’m a very pale person and I was pleasantly surprised that there was a color that matched my skin almost perfectly.
First Impressions: A Little Goes a Long Way

When I first pressed the puff into the cushion, I didn’t think much was happening, but there was. I kept tapping the pad onto the makeup thinking nothing was getting on the applicator, but I was wrong. There was. The first few times I used it I put too much on (thankfully it blends easily so it wasn’t an issue). A little bit of this formula goes a long way.
After I applied it to my cheeks, forehead and chin I was very impressed by the coverage. Impressive to say the least.
I’m currently dealing with a pretty embarrassing beauty fail. I have a large, red blotch on my forehead where I got a bit too close with my hair curler. It’s been a nightmare to cover without looking like I’ve plastered concealer over it. Two taps of the Glow Compact and the redness vanished. It covered my uneven skin tone and that burn mark effortlessly, yet my skin still looked and felt like my own skin.
Here are some before and after photos. YES! I know I need to get my roots touched up. I’m almost embarrassed to share these images, but I wanted readers to see the coverage. The top photo is the “before” image and you can see the red blotch on my forehead (it’s pretty large). The second photo is after using the “Glow” cushion foundation from Lava Art Cosmetics.

You can still see a bit of redness, but after tapping a little powder over it and doing my hair the mark is not even noticeable.
It even covers up some “spots” on my face.
The “Glow” Factor
The biggest fear with any product named “Glow” is that you’ll end up looking like you just ran a marathon in a sauna. There is a very fine line between “radiant” and “greasy.”
Lava Art nailed the balance. It gives the skin a healthy, hydrated luminosity. It looks like you’ve been drinking a gallon of water a day and just stepped out of a high-end facial. It’s a soft-focus radiance that catches the light in all the right places without making your T-zone look oily.
I feel confident when I wear this product. I feel like my make up looks the best it ever has, and I love having that healthy GLOW.
The Ultimate Test: The “Forget It’s There” Feeling
This is where the Glow Compact Foundation won me over for good. As I mentioned, I usually feel every second that I’m wearing makeup. But with this? It is incredibly lightweight. I went through my entire workday, ran errands, and it wasn’t until I sat down on the couch at 7:00 PM that I realized I hadn’t thought about my face once.
I didn’t feel that desperate urge to run to the bathroom and wash it off the moment I got home. I didn’t feel “dirty” or “heavy.” I could actually leave it on while making dinner or relaxing without feeling like my skin was suffocating. For someone who usually hates foundation, that is a total game-changer.

Honestly, I’m kicking myself for being so stubborn. I stayed away from cushion foundations because I assumed they were just a social media gimmick. I was wrong. The Lava Art Cosmetics Glow Compact provides the coverage of a foundation with the weightlessness of a serum. It’s perfect!
If you are like me and you value your skin’s ability to breathe but still want to look put-together and cover those occasional curling iron battle scars (ha ha), you need to try this cushion foundation. It’s easy, it’s fast, and the finish is stunning.
I am officially a new fan of Lava Art Cosmetics. It’s rare to find a brand that actually delivers on the “weightless” promise while still providing enough pigment to hide imperfections. I’m already eyeing their other products to see what else I’ve been missing out on.
If you’re ready to ditch the heavy, cakey foundations and move into something that feels like a second skin, go check them out. You can find all their shades and products at https://lavaart.com/.
Also, make sure you follow them on social media. They post great tutorials on how to get the most out of the cushion application, and it’s a great way to see the “Glow” in action on different skin types.
Trust me, your skin will thank you.
