I’m not a big fan of the summer months. I loathe the heat and humidity – A LOT. I try and spend as little time in my kitchen as possible. I also try to find things to eat that don’t require me to turn on the oven or the stove.
I don’t really have a big appetite in the summer, which works in my favor. It keeps me from gaining a ton of weight while I’m at home. I’m content to have something simple for lunch, such as cheese and crackers and some fruit. It’s quick, easy, tasty and fulfilling. Plus cheese (dairy) and fruit are good for you.
Saltines are OK, but after you’ve had them for the umpteenth time, you get a bit bored with them. I would prefer a cracker with some taste to it aside from salt. I want a flavorful cracker.
I was recently introduced to a cracker brand that has the tastes I’ve been craving. It’s called Mary’s Gone Crackers. I love the name.
Mary’s Gone Crackers is a gluten-free, plant-based, and organic cracker brand. I know a lot of people who need gluten-free products, so this product was of interest to them. Plant-based and organic are also good to know.
Mary’s Gone Crackers offers consumers a variety of cracker flavors, which will make it easy to find the perfect cracker (or crackers) for you.
Here are some of the available types and flavors;
- Herb
- Black Pepper
- Jalapeno
- Everything
- Basil & Garlic
- Seaweed & Black Sesame
- Rosemary
- Tomato Basil
- Chipotle
- Olive Oil & Black Pepper
- Garlic Rosemary
- Sea Salt
As you can see, there is a huge variety of flavors to choose from.
The crackers are also available in three different types – Original, Supers Seed and Real Thin.
I was sent some boxes of Mary’s Gone Crackers to try out for myself.
Mary’s Gone Crackers products make an ideal healthy and protein rich snack for you to enjoy when you pair them with tasty goodies such as these;
- Avocado cracker bites, try pairing with Mary’s Gone Crackers Real Thin Sea Salt; the buttery and salty crunch complements the tastiness of avocados.
- Sun-dried tomato and avocado spread, pair the Herb variety. The blend of organic herbs and spices brings a culinary flair to the table, with whole grain brown rice, quinoa, flax seeds, and sesame seeds.
- Avocado & salsa can be paired with some of the Super Seed varieties such as Seaweed & Black Sesame, Basil & Garlic or Rosemary.
- Plain crackers like the Original line (highlighting a whole grain brown rice, quinoa, flax seeds and sesame seeds to create a cracker with a rich, earthy flavor and a satisfying crunch) match best a new take on mini avocado toast.
These crackers are not only for avocados – NO WAY! You can use them with a variety of other products.
My daughter loves dipping these crackers in hummus. In fact, I need to swing by the store one day this week to get more. My kids gobbled it up.
I love the using Laughing Cow spreadable cheese on these crackers. Mmm!!! I want to see what other types of spreadable cheese I can use on these crackers.
I was thinking about trying cream cheese as well. That might work too.
Of course, you can easily eat these straight out of the box “as is.” I would suggest putting some in a bowl or on a plate, rather than eat out of the box. You can easily eat half the box without even thinking about it – they’re THAT good.
I find these crackers to be very filling. Honestly, a handful is enough to satisfy not only my taste buds, they also take the “edge” off of being hungry in between meals. I guess maybe its due to the grains they are made from.
Of the flavors I was sent to review, my favorites are Sea Salt, Black Pepper and Garlic Rosemary, although honestly, all the flavors I was sent taste great. Even my kids have been enjoying them (my husband didn’t want to try them, he’d rather eat his regular chips).
