If you are a regular reader of She Scribes, you know that I am always on the hunt for ways to feel a bit more “human” during the workday. Between managing the blog, taking care of my family and keeping up with a busy schedule, my energy levels usually take a nose-dive by 2:00 PM.
For the past month, I’ve been testing out two supplements from the brand Self Nutrition: their Essential Nutrients and Everyday Metabolism.
After thirty days of consistent use, I wanted to give you the lowdown on how they’re working for me, what I’ve noticed, and a few “insider tips” if you’re thinking about trying them yourself.
Essential Nutrients: The Daily Foundations
I started taking the Essential Nutrients (pictured above) in hopes of filling the gaps my diet, which admittedly is not always that great.
This product is designed to help with energy, sleep quality, and even the “vanity” perks like better hair, skin, and nails.
What I’ve Noticed:
- The Energy Boost: I definitely feel less sluggish. Usually, I’m dragging my feet by mid-afternoon, but I’ve felt a lot more focused lately.
- The “Glow” Factor: While it’s only been a month, my skin feels balanced, and I’m looking forward to seeing the long-term effects on my hair and nails.
- The Cravings Shift: This was the most surprising part. During the day, my urge to reach for sugary snacks has dropped significantly.
*A Quick Note on Timing: I take this very early in the morning. While my daytime cravings are gone, I do still find myself wanting a snack at night. It’s made me wonder if I should try taking it a bit later in the day to see if that “evening itch” for sweets disappears too.

Everyday Metabolism: Managing the Appetite
The second part of my new routine is the addition of taking Everyday Metabolism. This one acts as a natural appetite suppressant, and honestly, the combination of these two products has been a powerhouse for me.
I’m often not “overly hungry” like I used to be. It’s hard to say if it’s due to more so one of the products or the synergy of the two. I simply don’t have those intense, distracting hunger pangs during my work hours. I haven’t stepped on the scale to see if the numbers have changed yet, but the physical feeling of being less “heavy” and more energized is a win in my book.
The “Swallow” Factor (Keep This in Mind!)
I want to be 100% transparent with you all about the physical supplements themselves:
Size: Both of these supplements are on the larger side. If you are someone who struggles with swallowing larger pills, definitely take them with a full glass of water.
Texture/Format: I personally found them easy to swallow, but I have to admit—I’m not the biggest fan of capsules. I generally prefer tablets whenever possible. The Everyday Metabolism does come in capsule form, so keep that in mind if you have a strong preference like I do.
My Final Thoughts (For Now)
At the end of the day, it feels good knowing I’m giving my body the specific tools it needs to function properly. I feel more “tuned in” and much more focused on my daily tasks. I’m going to keep going with these to see if I notice even more of an improvement as I head into month two.
f you want to do a deep dive into the science behind their formulas, head over to the Self Nutrition website. You can also find their products on Amazon and at Walmart.
Have you tried any new supplements lately that actually made a difference in your energy? Let’s chat in the comments.
