Now showing on iTunes and Google Play is the unique documentary-style series, Follow Alana: Switzerland.
This interesting “travel show” is hosted by speaker and producer Alana Nichols. The 13 episode season premiers TODAY on digital platforms.
Alana was born with a rare form of deafness. When she was a child she received a Cochlear implant to help her hear (my step-mother has one of these implants too). Alana even spoke to the World Health Organization (WHO) about issues relating to deafness and hearing care.
Alana is also a sought after speaker.
In this series, Alana, a world traveler, takes viewers on an incredible journey around Switzerland. I have always wanted to travel to Switzerland. I’ve only seen pictures. In fact, I believe to a Facebook which features nothing but photos taken in Switzerland. The country is beautiful!
I’ve only seen a few episodes thus far (through provided screeners), but I am looking forward to eventually seeing all of them.
Alana does not let her deafness stop her from going on once-in-a-lifetimes adventures. I am envious of her. I wish I was able to join her on her journeys. However, you have to be some what physically fit to do many of the unique things that Alana does in her series, such as paragliding down the side of a steep mountain, ziplining through the woods and taking a 20 meter jump off a tree post.
Through this series you’ll visit and learn about the oldest wooden bridge in Europe (the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne), visit amazing art museums, and check out the oldest vegetarian restaurant/shop in the world (built in 1898!), and the Botanical Garden in Zurich, just to name a few.
In addition to taking viewers on a magical adventure, Alana also educates viewers about Switzerland and it’s culture. Did you know that cycling is one of the most popular sports in Switzerland? Or that they use Llamas from Peru for mountain hiking? Did you know the sun does not set there until 9:00 PM in the summer? How cool is that?
The people of Switzerland have a strong alpine culture, and they make sure to fully enjoy their leisure time, whether it’s taking a cogwheel up Mt. Pilatus, checking out the spectacular views from on top of a high peek, or just hanging out with the locals – there is so much to see and do in the beautiful country of Switzerland. It’s definitely on my “Buck List.”
In just a few short episodes of Follow Alana, I learned so much about the country. I’m even more determined then ever to visit Switzerland one day. I’m going to take Alana’s adventures to heart in hopes that one day I can follow in her footsteps. I’m especially interested in visiting Mt. Pilatus and checking out the view from the various tunnels built into the mountain. You can literally see several European countries from the top of the mountain! You can also see the Swiss Alps from there. It’s spectacular! Thanks to Alana, I would never even know such a place existed.
