Do you and your family enjoy playing games together? Do you get together with friends for “Game Night?”
Sadly, I think playing physical games is becoming a thing of the past due to video games and gaming apps. Personally I much rather play a game in person. Growing up some of my fondest memories involved playing board games with my cousins. I even have wonderful memories of playing board games with my children when they were younger.
I work with children in a “technology free” program. What that means is that they are not allowed to use smartphones or iPads. They need to actually engage with other children and do things children are suppose to do – PLAY.
We play a lot of games at work. I’m always on the look out for new and exciting games for my “work kids.”
Some of their favorite games include Connect Four, Jenga, Toss Across and Twister. I recently introduced a new game to them that combines Connect Four, Jenga and even Tic-Tac-Toe all in one exceptionally well made, easy to learn, 3D game.
Let me introduce you to FOROS.
Four-in-a-row style games just leveled up! Out of Doren Toy Company comes FOROS, a captivating 3D four-in-a-row challenge that promises to bring families and friends together in a fun and engaging way. Unlike other contemporaries, FOROS adds an entirely new dimension to consider in order to emerge victorious.
I was sent the game to review.
I currently work with children ages 5-8. I always worry about the little ones not understand how a game is played. Of my three five year olds, two of them figured the game out very quickly. The third one rather use the pieces as a toy and build things, which is perfectly fine too (he loves to play with blocks).
That is the wonderful thing about FOROS, it includes a booklet with bonus activities for solo play or for younger players not quite ready for competition. Inside the booklet you’ll find one-person challenges, puzzles, and open-ended play options.
FOROS comes with a 2-sided wood playing board. Also included are colorful blocks – blue cylinder bocks and the classic wood square blocks. The double sided board means you have different ways to play the game. It’s basically a multi-game product all rolled into one.
All the pieces and the board fit nicely back in the back too, which is helpful for an easy and quick clean up.
Here are some benefits to playing FOROS.
– Learn Quickly: This game can be mastered in mere seconds! Simply line up four wooden game pieces in a row—up, across, or diagonally.
– Flexible Playtime: Whether you have two minutes or two hours, FOROS adapts to your schedule, eliminating the frustration of lengthy explanations.
– Creative Play: With dozens of chunky, multicolored wooden pieces, players can stack, line up, or create their own unique structures.
My “work kids” started out using the side of the board with the multiple square slots (“The Grid”). Once they “mastered” that option we moved to the other side of the board. The straight line (“The Wall”) option is their favorite because visually it’s more like the game Connect Four. I have a few kids (my third graders) who have used the circular game board (“Stonehenge”) option.
FOROS can be played with people from different ages. That means you and your child can play games together, you and your teen, or a grandchild and grandparent. People the same age or decades apart in age can all enjoy FOROS games.
Because this game is made out of wood it will last for many years. It’s also eco-friendly which I appreciate.
