When I first heard of the company Fresh Produce I could not help but think fruits and vegetables. After all, isn’t that what produce is? It actually made me hungry for apples (don’t know why!).
Fresh Produce is a clothing company that sells apparel for average sized ladies, children and thankfully plus size.
I am a plus sized lady.I can tell you from personal experience that when it comes to plus size women’s casual clothing you usually have one of two choices, either pay a small fortune or have to settle for ugly, mu-mu type things even your old Aunt Gertrude wouldn’t wear.
I really wish that clothing companies would realize that just because we’re plus size doesn’t mean that we don’t enjoy fashionable, trendy apparel like our small sized counter parts. And just because we’re plus size doesn’t mean that we have a plus size wallet stuffed with money to pay for outrageously priced clothing either.
Thank goodness for clothing companies like Fresh Produce. They understand a plus size person’s desire to wear trendy clothing. Its nice to see that many of the plus sized fashions on Fresh Produce are the very same fashions available in the smaller sizes.
What I like about their clothing is that they are very casual and comfy. They are also geared more towards every day wear. You won’t see things dripping with rhinestones or with plunging necklines. Another words their clothing is great for work, play and hanging out at home. Its not the type of clothing you would buy if you like to hang out at clubs and fancy events. That is fine with me. I can’t tell you the last time I was in a club. It must have been about 15 years ago. Currently they have a nice selection of Fall fashion.
Fresh Produce sent me an outfit so I could check out the quality of their apparel. I was received a comfy pair of black Topstitched Sheeting Capri pants and a nice, versatile long sleeve top which I no longer see on their site. Its an Oxford shirt.
I wanted to take a picture of myself dressed in both pieces. I truly did. But I am very “camera shy”. Well, its more so I am embarrassed of how I look and I RUN from the camera when I see it pointed in my direction. I had good intentions. I was going to have my husband take my picture and just crop out my head but I chickened out. I don’t like how I look and I couldn’t bring myself to model clothing for all the world to see. I am sorry about that. But I did try my best to get pictures of my pieces.
I should have posted this review weeks ago but I never think sometimes when I get dressed. Usually I’m rushing out the door and grab the first thing I see. We only do laundry on Sundas and often one piece of Fresh Produce apparel would be in the laundry whenever I thought to prepare the review. Another words they were never both clean at the same time. One piece was always in the laundry whenever I thought about the review.
I really like the pants. Even though they are capris they are really light weight and ideal for hot days. As a plus size woman I am not overly thrilled about wearing shorts so I tend to wear a lot of capris. Often it can get uncomfortably hot in capris on a hot day. The Topstitched Sheeting Capris that I have from Fresh Produce are lightweight. They remind me of the material used to make windbreakers or athletic pants. They are also VERY comfy! A lot of times when I get home from being out I’ll change into something more comfortable. I don’t feel the need to do that in these pants.
The only downside is that I am petite in height and these women’s capris are for average height women. Instead of being capri length on me they are a bit longer, like what my Mom would refer to as “flood pants”. That is OK with me. First of all I am used to that seeing as how not all my clothes are made for petite people. And secondly they don’t look that bad being a bit longer on me.
I adore the shirt I received. I wish it was still on their site so I could direct you to it. I don’t see it there anymore.
My shirt is long sleeve and heavy in weight. It kind of reminds me of a light weight denim. It was a bit stiff at first but after I washed it the shirt felt soft and comfy, as if I have worn it for years.
The color in the photo I took of my shirt is not a good representation. My shirt is an olive green color, similar to these pants, also from Fresh Produce.
I have yet to wear the shirt “as is”. Its perfect for layering so I have worn it over tank tops and tee shirt. In a way I use it more like a jacket then a shirt. I’m thinking it would look great with a turtle neck underneath it too. I like that it can carry me through Fall, Winter and into Spring. The sleeves can be rolled up for the warmer months.
Clothing from Fresh Produce is not necessarily cheap or inexpensive. Its a bit out of my budget, but then again I don’t buy a lot of clothing. I usually only pick up a few pieces each season. The sale section does have some really great prices. If you are looking for a great deal I would check the sale section first and foremost.
I love that the clothing is simple, comfortable and colorful. Its great to wear to work or going out for coffee with friends.
