Easter is fast approaching. Even though we still have eleven days (as of today), I find it scary that I can hardly find much Easter decorations or candy in the stores. Most stores I shop at are already filling their shelves with sunscreen and flip flops. Sheesh! Retailers don’t let us enjoy holidays for long. They are too quick to jump on the next holiday and/or season.
I didn’t get a chance to stock up on some of my favorite Easter candies either. I was only able to find one bag of my favorite spiced jelly beans. Even though I am diabetic (well managed), I like to indulge in a jelly bean or two here and there.
Don’t get me started on the chocolates! I love chocolate and Easter (as well as Halloween) often has a plethora of my favorite chocolates.
Even though candy has a lot to do with Easter, that is not the only thing about the holiday. I won’t go into the religious reasons why, out of respect for readers who don’t celebrate the holiday. What I am referring to is doing fun activities as a family and making lasting memories.
Decorating Easter eggs is something my family always loved to do. Even though both my kids are not adults, they still talk about their memories of decorating Easter eggs. My husband was talking about it the other day too. He said that the two of us should decorate eggs, but then we were reminded of how pricey eggs are these days (ha ha).
Dipping eggs into cups of dyed water is one way to decorate Easter eggs, however, that is not the only way. You can always purchase an EggMazing Egg Decorator from the brand Hey Buddy Hey Pal.
To make things even more festive you can always purchase their PEEPS inspired EggMazing Egg Decorator.
PEEPS® once again is a part of the EggMazing family with the new colors for the PEEPS® EggMazing Egg Decorator! Just like the other decorators, this bunny-shaped one holds and spins hard-boiled eggs while you use the included PEEPS® markers to decorate! New colors include the iconic PEEPS® Blue, PEEPS® Pink and PEEPS® Purple.
I received a green PEEPS Eggmazing Egg Decorator to review. I don’t mind not receiving one of the new colors because green is my favorite color.
The box includes six (6) markers and the EggMazing Egg Decorator. No eggs are included, but you can use real hardboiled eggs or purchase “fake” eggs.
Batteries are also not included. The unit takes three AA batteries. You also need a screwdriver to open up the battery compartment.
I also received an EggMazing Egg-cessory box which includes a lot of cool stickers and gems to decorate the eggs.
I wanted to use this with my “work kids,” but I didn’t want to take a chance with hard boiled eggs (some of my kids are a bit spastic and I could see them getting broken right away). Instead I purchased “fake” wood eggs from Amazon. They worked out perfectly with the PEEPS EggMazing Egg Decorator.
To use the EggMazing Egg Decorator, simply install the batteries, then place your egg in the “hole” on the front of the unit. Next turn it on (button on the side). The unit will now rotated the egg round and round.
Using the included markers (or your own markers), put the tip of the marker on the spinning egg and watch the design magically appear. You can make colorful bands that are thick or thin – it’s totally up to you.
After you are done you can use stickers, gems or other items to decorate your eggs.
Here are some of the eggs my “work kids” made.
I had to crop out the faces for privacy reasons.
What I love about the EggMazing Egg Decorator is that it’s so easy to use, even young children can use it. It’s fun for the whole family. Even my staff (young adults) had fun making eggs.
You can use this year after year too!
If you are looking for more non-candy activities, or even non-candy basket fillers, check out the new line of Easter Busy Bags from the brand BizyBoo from Vango Toys.
I’ve reviewed Busy Bags from BizyBoo in the past. You can read that review here – Toddler “Busy Bags” Reimagined as New BizyBoo from Vango.
BizyBags are adorable, plush, toys that feature a clear “belly” (center) for lack of a better description. Inside are beads, letters, shapes and cute images of items, often pertaining to the bag design. For example, the Easter ones have Easter designs. The camping one has camping designs, and so forth.
This year BizyBags have been taken to the next level. Now your child can color their own BizyBag. What a fun idea! Coloring is a great quit time and family activity.
There are two sets available – one basket and Easter egg or two Easter eggs. The eggs have different designs/patterns on them depending on the option you choose. They also come with six (6) non-toxic markers.
I love how children can make it their own and color it any way they want. The markers take to it well. I had no trouble coloring them.
The bags are double sided, giving your child plenty of spaces to color.
I was sent some of these bags to check out for myself. I colored one of them thus far to give you an idea of what they are like.
Each BizyBag comes with a permanent hang tag that shows you want beads/images are hiding inside the toy’s center. These two are double sided. As you can see there is plenty for children to look for including letters (a great way to learn how to spell).
BizyBags are great to take on trips to visit relatives, to keep a kid occupied at restaurants, or simply to give them a quiet time activity.
There are plenty of designs to choose from too.
Lastly, I have a fun non-candy activity for little ladies, also available from Vango Toys. It’s called Loveté. They are bow making kits that come with everything you and your child needs to make beautiful hair bows. It even includes the fabric.
Directions for each style is available via the QR code inside the box.
I wish something like this was available when my daughter was younger. I used to love to dress my kids up for Easter, and I always make sure her hair looked nice. I would have used this kit with her had I had it back in the day.
Normally I try and do a full review. Sadly I just had Carpal Tunnel surgery and I don’t have much use of my right (dominate) hand. I can type (this post is taking me HOURS because I need to keep taking a break). I am unable to make one of these right now. Once I’m back to “normal” I’ll make one or two and update this post.
If you visit the Vango Toys website you can read more about this lovely product and a great mother/daughter or grandmother/granddaughter activity idea.
