When I was younger I honestly didn’t give much thought to the stuff I put on my body (or in my body for that matter). I never gave much thought to chemicals and toxins, especially when I was a teenager/young adult. I just went with whatever everyone else was using at that time. In hindsight, it was foolish of me to follow the trends. I also should have been more conscientious on the products I was using.
Now that I’m older, and I’d like to think wiser, I take ingredients into consideration. I realize it’s not always possible to fully avoid made-made ingredients, but I do make an effort to purchase and use products that are more on that natural and holistic side.
When I look back on the TORTURE I put my hair through, I regret it. All the perms I had as a teen/young adult, and all the times I bleached my hair. Ugh! If only I could go back in time and not do that to my hair.
My poor hair has been through a lot. It’s still colored, but that is more so to cover up those grays than it is to be “trendy.” I’m a natural “dirty blonde” anyway, so why I bleached my hair blonder is beyond me.
Anyway…
Just like with the products I use on my face, from cleansers to serums and from moisturizer to make-up, I care about the ingredients. Granted I might not fully understand what a lot of it is, or what it does, but I do try and use products that are free from artificial colors, fragrances, synthetic chemicals, man-made ingredients or anything else that might be seen as “unsafe” ingredients.
Not long ago I received a leave in condition from the brand J’s Natural Beauty to review. It’s their Ten Leave in Conditioner.
This vegan leave in conditioner is made with coconut and argan oils. It’s a detangler, moisturizer, primer and more. It helps to not only revitalize and thicken your hair, but also helps to strengthen and repair damage. It has many benefits to your hair.
Here is more information about the J’s Natural Ten Leave in Conditioner.
I am very picky when it comes to products I use in my hair. My hair USED to be thick, lush and beautiful. Age, plus years of destroying it (perms, bleach…) has left my hair in sad shape. It’s thinned out and I get frizzy ends. I also have color treated hair, so I need to use products that are safe for hair that has been colored.
I spray some of this product on to my hands rather than straight on my hair. This is a personal choice, not as directed. I like to ensure that I get enough of the product on my ends. My ends are where I need the most help. That is the are that looks frizzy, is often dry, and gets the most tangles.
So far I have been very pleased with this product. It helps me to be able to comb my hair without dealing with a lot of tangles (I still get a few here and there, but not like I did prior to using this product). This product has also helped my ends to look decent. They don’t look like they are dried out.
I feel like this product helps my natural waves to look better too. They seem more defined.
I like that it leaves my hair feeling soft and “touchable.” It also have a delicate scent which is really nice too. I think it might be from the coconut.
J’s Naturals has many other products you might be interested in checking out. All of them are made with ingredients that are better for your hair, skin and health, not to mention the environment.
