Have you seen the hilarious Melissa McCarthy film, Spy, yet? It’s available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.
In case you missed it you can read my review here – Spy Movie Review. Please note that the giveaway is over.
In the film, Melissa McCarthy’s character, Susan Cooper, undergoes several looks to protect her identity. Some of the looks are fun (like the old lady) and others make her look like she can kick some serious butt.
Here are some of her looks from the film.
Imagine if you had the opportunity to go undercover. How would you like to look? Would you want to look sweet and innocent, look like a tourist, or look like you are a “Bond Girl” from the James Bond films?
I received a box of hair color from John Frieda to change my look – just like McCarthy’s Susan Cooper character did in the Spy film.
I have dirty blonde hair. I used to have platinum blonde hair when I was younger. Then it turned a yellowish blonde, then dirty blonde. With the gray, silver and white hair on my head, mixed with the blonde, my hair just looks dull and washed out.
I think I should have been born a red head because I love auburn hair.
I was sent to review a box of John Fried hair coloring in Radiant Red/Deep Cherry Brown.
My hair is thick and course and doesn’t absorb hair coloring the way it should. For that reason it’s hard to judge what my hair color will be when I used hair coloring. Sometimes it’s true to the box color, other times it lighter than the color on the box.
I once colored my hair a dark, deep brown color. It looked great but about a month later my roots stood out so much that I had to dye my hair a lighter color.
This is what my hair looked like prior to using the John Frieda hair coloring (below). Please disregard my wrinkles, blotches and dull appearance. I had no make up on.
The hair coloring was pretty standard as far as the application was concerned. I applied it as directed, left it on for the specific amount of time then rinsed it out and applied the post-coloring conditioner.
I get Eczema on my scalp from time to time, so I have to be careful not to use harsh hair coloring or it triggers the Eczema. I’ve never used John Frieda before. Thankfully it wasn’t harsh. It did not bother my Eczema.
I can’t believe I am showing pictures of myself with no make up. I must be crazy! LOL!
After I finished coloring my hair this was the end result. It wasn’t as dark as I had hoped it would be, but its still a very nice color. In fact the photos don’t do it justice. I should have taken some out in the sunlight. The color looks better in the sun.
Even though it’s not as dark as I’d like it to be, it’s still a good color.
I may not be a spy like Melissa McCarthy’s character in the film Spy, but I can still enjoy changing up my appearance from time to time with some great hair coloring, make up and a change in my wardrobe.
Look for Spy where ever movies are sold.

Your hair looks amazing. You wear this color really well. If only I could take the plunge and change mine. I haven’t colored my hair in over 20 years.
