Can you believe that Christmas is NEXT WEEK! Hanukkah started yesterday (December 14, 2025). I still need to wrap what I have and pick up some last minute gifts.
Some people are not easy to buy for. There are only so many mugs and boxes of chocolates you can give someone. I rather gift someone something they can truly use and enjoy.
Recently I learned about a website that offers gift cards to many local establishments. It’s called Gift Card Market.
Did you know, the gift-card industry is booming, expected to generate $447 billion in the U.S. in 2025 and climb toward $3.8 trillion globally by 2034, yet most of those dollars flow to big-box retailers and national chains.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with purchasing gift cards to major retailers. My motto used to be “When in doubt, Amazon” as far as gift cards are concerned.
Gift Card Market is different. They offer consumers a plethora of gift card choices to LOCAL establishments. Neighborhood restaurants, area spas, home services, personal services and more.
By purchasing gift cards from Gift Card Market, you are not only getting a gift for that someone special, you are also helping the local economy by supporting local businesses.
Supporting local businesses strengthens your community’s economy (more money stays local), creates jobs, fosters unique character and diversity, promotes innovation, offers better customer service and contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing pollution (trucks having to driver products cross country). It’s an investment in your neighborhood’s future, supporting real people and preserving local charm.
Since I need a few more gifts, I visited the Gift Card Market to see what they had to offer. I was happy to see that many of our favorite local restaurants are on the website. I honestly didn’t know you could get gift cards to those establishments. That is great to know.
I also love learning about new restaurants that I was unaware of. My husband and I tend to eat at the same three places (locally). I didn’t know there were some other yummy sounding restaurants in our area. I’m making note of them so we can check them out the next time we go out to eat.

I love that the Gift Card Market has local services featured too. In my area I can get gift cards to give to local handymen, junk removal service, electrician, lawncare and landscaping. A gift card to get your lawn mowed and/or some landscaping done would certainly be a unique and unexpected gift idea.
Movers, locksmith, mechanic, salon… there are so many options that I found on this website.
You can use Gift Card Market to not only find gift card options for your local area, but you can also find gift cards for other places across the country. That way you can gift someone a gift card who might live far away from you. This is especially helpful if you are unaware of what local establishments are in their area.
I checked the area in New Jersey where our daughter lives. I found a nail salon, bakery and plenty of restaurants.
There is a search bar at the top of the Gift Card Market website so you can search any area.
Once you find an establishment you want to purchase a gift card from, simply click on their listing. There you can enter amounts from $10 – $250 (or any amount you want to purchase).
You’ll also find a little information about the establishment, address and phone number.
Once you make a purchase you can either email or text the digital card to the lucky recipient. It’s that easy!
Gift Card Market is great for year-round gifting, not just for the holidays. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations… any time you need a gift, or a last minute gift for those of us who drag our feet getting the gift shopping done.
If you would like to check them out for yourself, visit GiftCardMarket.com. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram.
