This pandemic has really done a number on all of us. From losing loved ones, to losing jobs, and students losing valuable time with their educations and socializing with friends, we ALL need some time to reset our minds.
One way I reset my mind is NOT watch the news every night. I know I need to be informed with what is going on in the world, as well as in my own backyard. But at the same time, the news is almost always about bad stuff. There is hardly any good news. What the world needs is more good, positive news.
I joke around with my husband all the time that I am going to start my own “good news” program. I would air nothing but GOOD news all the time. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Disconnecting from television and most especially social media, does us a lot of good. Even children need to learn to disconnect from video games and find something to do that doesn’t involve television, smartphones or video games.
I have a great gift idea for anyone on your holiday shopping list. It’s called a Buddha Board. It’s a must have mindful gift.
A Buddha Board helps foster a mindful state in just a few minutes a day. Whether you are feeling stressed or want to simply get lost in the creative process, the Buddha Board is an invitation to let go and recharge.
I purchased a Buddha Board as a gift for my co-worker a few years ago. She’s very creative (she’s an amazing artist). I thought it would be perfect for her, and I was right. She loved it and from what she told me, she used it often.
Check out this brief video (below) that explains more about them.
Here are some specifics about Buddha Boards.

Yes, you read that right. The Buddha Board only uses water to “paint” with. I don’t mean water color paint either. I mean you can use it with water straight from your tap.
The Buddha Board has some kind of special “coating” on it (for lack of a better description) that reacts to water. Simply dip the paint brush in water, and start “painting” on your Buddha Board. That’s it! It’s that easy to do.
You can paint designs, images, or just let your mind freely paint whatever it wants, even if it looks messy.
Here is an example (below). I was a bit too “heavy handed” with the paint brush, so water dripped down. That was my fault and no fault of the Buddha Board. You don’t need a lot of water on the paint brush in order to use is.
You’ll notice how the design (just something random I did) evaporates slowly.
Once the design disappears, you can start all over again.
Not only does painting on the Buddha Board free your mind, but watching the water evaporate and the design slowly disappear also helps you to relax, focus and clear your mind. The designs stay on the board for a few minutes before disappearing. Then you are free to start over again.
The Buddha Board is available in three different styles/sizes.
Mini Buddha Board ($17.95) – This is the smallest Buddha Board. It’s an ideal size for traveling, so you can take it with you where ever you go. You can easily tuck this inside of a tote bag or backpack. The mini also folds up.
Original ($37.95) – This is the largest Buddha Board, and the one I use most often. It gives you a lot of space to draw on. I also really like the stand it comes with. You can put the water directly into the stand so it’s conveniently available to you.
Enso ($27.95) – This Buddha Board is medium size. It also folds up like the mini, making it convenient to take with you when you travel. This one also comes with a special paint brush that you can fill up with water, so there is no need to have a cup of water by your side in order to use it. Just fill up the pen with water, and take the Enso along where ever you want to go with it.
Combine a Buddha Board with some nature sounds (like running water), or a Tibetan singing bowl, and you’ll have a truly relaxing situation.
I think a Buddha Board would make a great gift for adults and children (especially teenagers). It’s unique and something they wouldn’t expect, but I’m sure they will totally appreciate it once they try it. It’s both fun and relaxing.
All three of these Buddha Boards are available at BuddhaBoard.com. They are also available at some retail locations (there is a store locator on the brand’s website). In addition, you can also find the brand on social media. Their links are found on the bottom left side of their website.
Unplug and foster your creative side with Buddha Board.
