There is nothing worse than losing your electricity, especially when you lose it for several days. Back when we had Hurricane Floyd (about 20 years ago), we lost power for five days. Last year we lost power from a freak storm for three days. Losing power for more than a few hours is a nightmare, let alone days.
We learned our lesson the hard way with Hurricane Floyd. For that reason, we try to always be prepared, just in case. We purchased a battery operated air pump for our fish. We have fresh batteries on hand for our flashlights. We have plenty of candles and matches. We also make sure our backup phone chargers are always charged (we test them regularly).
We live in a condo complex, so it’s never truly dark in our home. However, when the power goes out its so dark in here that we literally cannot see our own hands in front of our faces. I don’t like that feeling. I’m not afraid of the dark, I’m just afraid of bumping into something, tripping on a cat or hurting myself.
Flashlights are great, but they don’t always provide you with enough illumination, especially if you wanted to play a game.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could have a lamp that would work when the power went out? Something that can provide you with ample light to shine through the darkness. There is a way. It’s called the Lamp Angel.
The Lamp Angel is from inPowered Lights. It’s an actual lamp that continues to work after the power goes out.
With Autolight Emergency Technology, you’ll never have to worry about another unexpected power outage. This feature allows the lamp to detect when there is no more electricity, causing the LED base to automatically turn on.
Nice! You don’t even have to worry about fumbling through your home to find the lamp to turn in it on. It will automatically turn on when the power is out. That’s a very handy feature to have.
The lamp can provide you with 16-24 hours of continuous backup light. That means it should last you a day or two (if you turn it off during hours when it’s light out), just in case you find yourself without power for a few days.
The Lamp Angel looks like an ordinary small lamp. In fact, you would never know from looking at it that it was a special lamp. It looks, as I said, ordinary.
The picture (below) shows what Lamp Angle looks like when the power goes out. As you can see in the photo, the lamp is unplugged, similar to when the power goes out. As you can see, the lamp still gives off a bright light.
Aside from the special technology that turns it on when it sense the power goes out, the lamp also features a USB port that can allow you to charge your mobile devices. I cannot even stress how valuable this feature is. My family and I always check the charge on our portable phone chargers, but JUST IN CASE you don’t know that the portable charger is not fully charged, or you run out of a charge, it’s nice to know that you have another source of backup power to charge your phone. After all, most people cannot live without their phones, not to mention we need our phones to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency, as well as to connect with what is going on outside (weather, news…). If you have children, you know how important a phone can be to entertain them.
I was sent one of these wonderful lamps to review.
A fun feature with these lamps is that you can change the color of the high quality shatter-proof acrylic base with the included remote control. That means you can change the color to match the room, or change it to your favorite color. You can change the color as often as you’d like.
You can also change settings to have the lamp cycle through various colors.
Check out the video (below) to see what I mean.
I believe there is an app you can use on your phone to change the color too, but I simply use the provided remote.
These lamps make great night lights for children.
I’ve used the lamp as both a traditional lamp, as well as “mood lighting” with the colorful base. It’s not very big, so it won’t provide you with ample light to light up a large room. This lamp is better suited on an end table, nightstand or desk.
I like that this lamp is lightweight and easy to tote from room to room.
When the power is removed from the lamp (for example, unplugged or lose electricity), this lamp gives off a decent amount of light. In fact, I’m impressed with how much light it gives off.
Thankfully we haven’t lost power in a while, but if/when it does happen again, it’s comforting to know we have this extra light source, as well as a backup charger in case we need it.

InPowered Lights also has other lamps to choose from.
This lamp sells for $49.99. That might be a bit expensive, initially. But when you consider the benefits, it’s worth every penny.
What do you think about the Lamp Angel? Does it sound like a product you’d like to have in your home?

thanks for featuring this! I am going to check it out right now! I am in Michigan and a few weeks ago we had a storm where our power was out for 6 hours (and my phone died). Love that this lamp also has the ability to charge the phone. I have bulbs from QVC that automatically go on when the power goes out but those are only good for 4 hours I believe. I think the fact that this lamp will have 16 to 24 hours of power is fantastic! Thank you so much for your wonderful review, you answered all of my questions! BTW I don’t think it is expensive at all!
