If you have been following my skincare journey for any length of time, you know that I am a massive advocate for K-Beauty. There is just something about the Korean approach to skin—focusing on hydration, gentle nourishment, and long-term barrier health—that resonates with me. Among the many brands I’ve tried over the years, April Skin remains one of my absolute favorite, affordable K-Beauty brands.
They consistently manage to bridge the gap between high-end clinical results and drugstore prices. Today, I’m diving deep into two of their powerhouse treatments: the A.C.E Vita Kojic Brightening Serum and the A.C.E Mugwort Centella Calming Serum. I recently received both products to review.
Whether you are battling stubborn dark spots or trying to soothe a reactive, “angry” complexion, these two might just be your new holy grail products. Plus, stick around until the end because there is a massive sale coming up that you won’t want to miss!
Before I get into the nitty-gritty of the serums, let’s talk about why April Skin is a better beauty and skincare option compared to many Western counterparts.
In the world of skincare, it is easy to get caught up in “percentage wars”—brands trying to outdo each other with higher and higher concentrations of acids that often leave your skin stripped and irritated. April Skin takes a different route. They prioritize biocompatibility. Their formulas are designed to be “skin-friendly,” meaning they use ingredients that the skin recognizes and can absorb efficiently without causing a freak-out.
What makes them a superior choice is their commitment to combining traditional herbal wisdom (like Mugwort and Centella) with modern brightening agents (like Kojic Acid and Vitamin C). You get the potency of a laboratory-grade serum with the soothing nature of a spa treatment. And the best part? You don’t have to spend $80 for a one-ounce bottle.

If “dullness” is your middle name, this serum is the answer to your prayers. The A.C.E Vita Kojic Brightening Serum is designed specifically for those of us dealing with hyperpigmentation, sun spots, or that lingering redness that stays long after a breakout is gone.
The “A.C.E” in the name stands for Vitamins A, C, and E—a golden trio for skin health. Vitamin C brightens, Vitamin E heals and protects, and Vitamin A (Retinol) helps with cell turnover. But the real star here is Kojic Acid. Derived from fungi, Kojic Acid is a natural lightening agent that inhibits melanin production.
The texture is surprisingly lightweight. It isn’t sticky or tacky, which is a common complaint with many Vitamin C serums. After about two weeks of consistent morning use, I noticed a visible “lit-from-within” glow. My skin looked less tired, and the small dark spots near my cheekbones began to soften. It’s effective yet remarkably gentle—I didn’t experience the stinging or “purging” that often comes with high-potency brighteners.

On the flip side, we have the A.C.E Mugwort Centella Calming Serum. This is the “fire extinguisher” for your face. If you have sensitive skin, rosacea, or if you’ve recently overdone it with harsh exfoliants, this is the bottle you need to reach for.
Mugwort has been used in Korean medicine for centuries for its anti-inflammatory properties. When you pair that with Centella Asiatica (often called Cica or “Tiger Grass”), you get a formula that is incredibly adept at repairing the skin barrier.
I love using this in the evening, especially after a long day of wearing makeup or being out in the elements. It has a cooling sensation upon application that immediately takes the “heat” out of my skin. If I have a blemish (even at my age I get them) that is red and swollen, applying this serum overnight significantly reduces the inflammation by morning. It feels like a deep drink of water for the skin, sinking in instantly and leaving behind a soft, hydrated finish.
While both of these serums are incredible on their own, they work beautifully as a duo. I personally like to use the Brightening Serum in the morning (followed by a layer of SPF, of course!) to protect against environmental damage and keep my complexion vibrant. Then, I use the Calming Serum at night to help my skin recover and repair while I sleep.
This balance ensures that I am targeting discoloration without compromising my skin’s moisture barrier.
🚨 HUGE SALE ALERT: March 25 – March 31, 2026 🚨
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to overhaul your skincare routine, this is it! April Skin is having a major spring event on Amazon.
From March 25, 2026, through March 31, 2026, select products across their entire line will be on sale for upwards of 40% off. This includes some of their best-sellers and, hopefully, these incredible A.C.E serums! When a brand this affordable goes on sale for nearly half off, products tend to fly off the shelves, so I highly recommend setting an alarm.
Both of these products will be selling for 30% off in case you were wondering.
Don’t miss out on the chance to achieve that “glass skin” look for a fraction of the price. You can shop their products directly from their official website, AprilSkin.us (notice it’s .us and not .com) or you can shop April Skin on Amazon.
