I have always had a soft spot (no pun intended) in my heart for stuffed/plush animals. Ever since I was a little girl, I could never get enough of them. Even as an adult I still look at stuffed animals and want to add them to my ever growing collection. I have stuffed animals from my youth, as well as others that I have acquired over the years.
When I was a young girl I used to think that stuffed animals were “alive” and had feelings. For that reason I would go out of my way to buy (or make my mom buy for me) stuffed animals that had some kind of flaw to them (uneven eyes, rips, missing fur…) because in my mind I thought they had feelings. I was afraid no one would want them because of their flaw/flaws and therefore be unwanted and unloved. This could explain my huge collection of stuffed animals when I was younger.
I used to drive my mom crazy when it came to packing to spend two weeks over the summer at my cousin’s house in Pennsylvania. I HAD to take some of my stuffed animals with me, but which ones? I used to take about a dozen of them with me. Thankfully I outgrew that.
I adore stuff animals that are super soft and “squishy.” That makes them more huggable. I also enjoy stuffed animals that are very realistic looking.
Have you ever heard of Wild Republic? It’s a stuffed animal toy brand that makes the most adorable, and most realistic looking stuffed/plush toys. They also carry seasonal products, home decor, backpacks and more.
I was sent some fun plush toys from Wild Republic to review that happen to be very timely.
As many people well know, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is currently playing in theaters across the country. My husband and I just went to see it this past Saturday. It was good. Sad (I won’t say why) but good. It also makes me wonder if there will be a fifth installment in the popular franchise. I guess time will tell.
Wild Republic carries a nice line of dinosaur plush toys. I know, it seems odd to think of dinosaurs as stuffed animals. Bears, dogs, cats, llamas, sloths… those are all typical subjects of stuffed animals. Dinosaurs would be my last thought as far as stuffed animals.
Wild Kingdom has several great looking plush dinosaur toys to choose from including the vicious Velociraptor to the gentle giant known as a Diplodocus. They have very realistic looking dinosaurs to ones that have a glittery look to them.
I was sent a few of these adorable plush toys to check out for myself. I was sent to review…
- Glitter Velociraptor with Teeth
- Glitter Diplodocus (although mind looks different then the one on the site)
- Glitter Stegosaurus
The plush toys are exceptionally well made. I looked them all over from top to bottom. I didn’t find any odd stitching, lose threads, or defects in any way.
I would have to say that these plush dinosaurs are very realistic looking, with the exception of the glittery/shiny look to their “skin.” I would have preferred a more realistic look to their skin, but I can see the appeal the glitter/shiny look would have to younger children. I even think they make the dinosaurs more appealing to girls.
DON’T GET ME WRONG… I’m NOT saying girls can’t like dinosaurs. I LOVED them as a kid. I wanted to be an archaeologist in hopes of finding some undiscovered dinosaur. I’m just saying that some little girls are more into “girly” looking things and I think the look of these plush might appeal to even the most girliest of girls. Hopefully people understand the point I am trying to make with this comment.
Anyway…
The plush dinosaurs are a great size. They are small enough to play with but large enough to cuddle with. They are more firm then they are soft, but they are still very “snug-able.”
My favorite of the three is the Velociraptor. He does have a menacing look to him, most especially because he has teeth (they are soft and plastic). He also has the huge claws like a real Velociraptor would have.
His “hands” are made with fabric “nails” and the claws on his “feet” are part of the toy. There is nothing sharp on this toy at all.
Wild Republic has several other dinosaurs in different styles to choose from. They even have super adorable baby ones.
If you have a child/grandchild that is totally into Jurassic World (or Park) and/or loves dinosaurs, these plush toys would make a wonderful gift.
I also wanted to mention that Shark Week is coming up (July 22 – July 29, 2018). I know that its’ hugely popular among a lot of people and families. Even my family is “hooked” on Shark Week.
Wild Republic happens to have plush sharks too! They have super cute and very fuzzy baby sharks to the more realistic looking plush sharks.
Wild Republic sent me a Hammerhead Shark plush toy as well.
This plush toy is very soft and even more cuddly than the dinosaurs. Imagine that… a cuddly shark. LOL!
The one I was sent to review is 20″ long. A real Hammerhead Shark can grow to 20′ – 25′.
This plush toy has teeth too, but these teeth are made out of fabric. They are not plastic like the dinosaurs teeth.
Imagine how much more fun Shark Week would be with a collection of cool, plush sharks from Wild Republic?
