Going on a road trip can either be a lot of fun – or a total nightmare. It all depends on where you are going, how long it will take, and how old your kids are.
I’ve found that it doesn’t necessarily get any easier when your kids get older. They can tune you out by listening to their music on their phone or device, but that doesn’t always mean they won’t whine and quibble about the long drive.
I have found that my kids are fine on trips to Grandpa and Grandma’s house. They live an hour away. It’s trips that are past three hours that they are not too keen about. It’s not so bad when they know they are visiting their cousins in Pennsylvania.
The film Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip, is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. In honor of it’s release, Fox Home Entertainment send me and my family some fun goodies to use on a road trip – or should I say “road CHIP.”
We received plush Alvins, drawstring bags, a sign, ear buds, activity sheets and a gift card to purchase snacks with.
If you follow me on Instagram and/or Twitter you might have seen some of the photos of our “road chip.” In case you missed them, here are some highlights.
Gearing up for our “road chip” with Alvin. He wanted to drive but I figured that might not have been a good idea. LOL!
Before you go on a “road chip” you need to make sure your car is filled up. Silly us. We filled up before we left. We went to New Jersey. Gas is always cheaper in New Jersey. We should have waited.
Our drawstring bags were filled with snacks and beverages. Alvin decided he wanted to eat his snacks early.
Alvin hung out in the backseat for a while holding up the “Road Chip” sign so people driving behind us knew we were on a “Road Chip.”
Alvin was in the mood for some coffee – and so was I. Thanks Alvin for encouraging us to stop for some coffee.
The Alvin in your mirror might be a lot closer than it appears. Ha Ha.
Selfie with Alvin. I wasn’t driving at this point.
Alvin holding a parking spot for us.
Alvin made friends with Tinker Bell on our trip.
It’s hard to tell but if you look carefully in the center of this photo (above) you can see the New York City skyline off in the distance.
Alvin got hungry so we stopped for dinner on the way home. Little did he know he wasn’t coming in with us. That is why he went after our left overs (below).
Alvin LOVED the sunroof in my car. I had a hard time getting him to come back inside. I was afraid he’d blow away. LOL!
We had a fun time on our trip. Sadly, my husband was just getting over being sick and I was sick on our trip. I made the mistake of taking a cold medication that caused drowsiness. I had a horrible time trying to stay awake during our time in the car. I even felt like I was going to fall asleep in the restaurant when we stopped to have dinner.
Note to Self: Don’t take medication that cause drowsiness when you have something fun to do.
When we got home from our “Road Chip” we watched the movie on iTunes (Digital HD). You can read my review here as well as download and enjoy some FREE activities – Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip Review and fun FREE activities.
You can check out other blogger’s “road chips” by searching for the hashtag #AlvinInsiders and #FamilyRoadTrip on social media.
I also have a copy of the film to give to a lucky reader.
