I grew up in the 80’s. I hate to admit that (it makes me seem “old”) but it’s true. I was born in the last 60’s. I was a child in the 70’s and a teenager in the 80’s.
The 80’s were a lot of fun. The music, the hair, the fashion… it was certainly a very unique decade.
I love it when my teens watch music videos from the 80’s. They find them “trippy”. They can’t understand them. Frankly I don’t think 80’s music videos are supposed to make sense. I think they were meant to be silly.
Have you seen the ABC family comedy The Goldbergs? The Goldbergs is a series about a family living in the 80’s complete with big hair, neon clothing and the lack of current technology.
Did you know that The Goldbergs is loosely based on the show’s creator’s own family? The series creator, Adam F. Goldberg, had a family similar to the Goldbergs including some of the family’s misadventures.
Here is the show’s official synopsis.
Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for just showing up, and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ’80s. For geeky 11-year old Adam these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera, ready to capture all the crazy.
The Goldbergs is produced by Happy Madison Productions, Adam F. Goldberg Productions and Exhibit A Productions in conjunction with Sony Pictures Television. It was created by Adam F. Goldberg (Fanboys) and executive produced by Adam F. Goldberg, Seth Gordon (“Marry Me”) and Doug Robinson (“Rules of Engagement”).
Available today on DVD is The Goldbergs: The Complete First Season.
My family and I have watched several episodes but admittedly we’ve missed several too.
We like the series. It’s funny. At times I can almost relate to the show and the characters.
I met Wendi McLendon-Covey earlier this year in Los Angles. She is a WONDERFUL person. I truly enjoyed each and every moment I had with her. Even though she’s the celebrity she was more interested in me and my life. I’m still shocked that she cared what I had to say and asked ME questions when it should have been the other way around.
Oh I love her! She’s such a sweet lady. I still find it hard to believe she’s the mom from The Goldbergs. I think it’s her hair in the show that throws me off. LOL!
The Complete Series includes all 23 episodes from the first season on three DVD discs. The episodes included in the collection are pictured below.

My family and I have not made it completely through the entire collection – yet. We watch and episode or two here and there whenever we can. It’s nice to catch the episodes that we missed in the first season.

What a cool opportunity, getting to meet a celebrity from one your favorite shows! I have to straight up admit I’ve never heard of the Goldbergs. I was born in the ’80s and raised super hippie with no TV, so I missed out on a lot of cultural references in the ’80s and ’90s. I had a great childhood, but I am playing catchup to TV shows now that I’m an adult, LOL!
