I do not have a “green thumb.” I think I could kill FAKE plants, that is how much bad luck I have with plants. Or should I say “had?”
Mother’s Day (2021), my son gave me a plant. It was really pretty, and since I enjoy spending time on our balcony, I thought it would look good out there. I eventually purchased another one to balance things out, Then my neighbor gave me a plant, and I had to get yet another one to make everything even (I’m a visual person).
Much to my surprise, the plants lived. Not only that – they thrived!
As the weather got cooler, the plants started to die. Sadly, I have no where inside our home to keep them warm and out of the elements. They died. HOPEFULLY I’ll be able to keep more plants in the sprint/summer.
A while back I was sent information about a Zombie Plant from a company called Tickle Me Plant. Needless to say, I was intrigued, especially because I’m into the horror genre, and the word “Zombie” got to me.
The Tickle Me Plant is a special plant (I’m not sure of it’s true name) that appear to “die” when it’s lightly touched. The leaves curl up, and basically the plant “plays dead.” It’s really interesting.

I was sent a Zombie Plant Kit to review.
The kit comes with everything you need to grow several Zombie plants – seeds, soil, a “mini-green house” and of course, instructions.
I found it very interesting that the seeds had to be placed in boiling hot water for two days (48 hours). You could plant them after 24 hours, but I opted for 48 hours.
Once you have soaked the seeds for the allotted time, it’s time to plant them.
You’ll need to add water to the soil “discs” to let them soak up the water and expand. Once you’ve done that, it’s time to plant the seeds.
The seeds need to be kept inside the plastic container that it comes with (bottom and lid). It works as a mini-greenhouse until the seeds start to sprout.
Once the seeds sprout, you are suppose to replant them in another container. Right now I don’t have a container to plant them in. I’m looking to order a cute set off Amazon.
The plants sprouted quickly, but they are taking their time sprouting leaves for me to see them “play dead” in person.
I am posting my review JUST IN CASE I end up accidently killing the plants. You see, we live in a condo, and we have limited window space (bedroom, dining room, bathroom and a sliding glass door. I can’t put the plants in the bedroom, dining room or by the sliding glass doors due to the cats (I’m afraid they will eat them or destroy them). So I have to put them in the bathroom. Our bathroom window is in the shower, so the plants have to be moved daily when we take our showers. Due to the limited sunshine they get, it might take them a long time to grow.
With the frigid winter weather, I also can’t put them in the bathroom window when it’s cold (there is a horrible draft coming from that window – it’s an old window installed in 1972!).
Up to this point growing the plants has been easy. And it’s fun to watch them grow. I’m exited to see them come to fruition so I can see them “play dead.”
