It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just days away. We’ve been gearing up for the holiday since the day after Thanksgiving. It will never cease to amaze me how quickly time flies.
I’m not sure what your holiday plans are. Will you be traveling? Will you be hosting a family dinner? Do you have a party to attend?
For me and my family, Christmas day is usually just a quiet day at home. When the kids were little we would bounce around between the grandparents and great-grandparents homes. Sadly, they are all gone now except my father and step mother. They live in Florida (we’re in New York). Our kids are also young adults now. Instead of bouncing around between families, we just spend a quiet day at home, watching movies and enjoying a family dinner.
As much as I LOVE holiday movies, they have all been overplayed this holiday season (sad to say). For that reason, I’m looking for other movies to enjoy with my family. This Christmas we’ll be watching Goosebumps 2, which will be available for digital download on December 25, 2018. We loved the original Goosebumps film, and we’re all looking forward to the sequel.
The Goosebumps films are based on books written by R. L. Stine. My kids grew up reading Goosebumps books. I even have a Goosebumps book autographed by Stine.
We’re going to make some Muddy Buddys to enjoy during the movie. We are also going to attempt to make popcorn balls. I’ve never made them before, so I’m not sure how well it’s going to go. There are different recipes, but we’re going to try and make the ones created with marshmallows, only because I don’t have a candy thermometer to make them the regular way.

I make Muddy Buddy every Christmas. Sometimes I toss in red and green M&Ms to add some holiday colors to it.
I was sent some Goosebumps goodies, in honor of the film’s digital release. Included in the Goosebumps package were some Goosebumps 2 themed recipes and a “mocktail” drink recipe. All of the recipes feature something from the Goosebumps 2 film – Gummy Bears. Lots and lots of gummy bears.
I received A LOT of packages of Gummy Bears (Haribo Gummy Bears – the best kind). When I opened the box is was like a Gummy Bear explosion. LOL!
Check out this brief trailer for the film. Watch it to the end and you’ll see why gummy bears were sent to me in abundance.
LOL!
I haven’t seen this film yet, but judging by the trailer, I think we’re going to like it even MORE than the original film.
I was sent recipe cards to make the following.
- Slappy’s Holiday Thumbprint Cookies
- Holiday Gummy Bear Bark
- Gummy Bear Holiday “Mocktails”
In addition to the gummy bears I was sent a gift card to pick up the rest of the supplies I needed. The only problem is that I was unable to get to Target in time to pick up what I needed. There was no way I was going anywhere near Target this weekend – not the weekend before Christmas. Our son went yesterday (Saturday, December 22nd), and he said it took him over a half hour just to find parking (our Target is located at our mall).
I love Thumbprint Cookies. I’ve made them before, However these cookies are made with gummy bears instead of the chocolate kiss. They sound delicious. I just don’t have the ingredients to make them on hand (I don’t have any brown sugar, nor to do I have enough butter). Here is the recipe if you are interested in trying to make it yourself with your family. Simply click on the image so you can download the recipe.
I’m going to try and get to the grocery store before it closes tomorrow morning to pick up the ingredients to make the Thumbprint Cookies.
I also have the recipe cards for the Holiday Gummy Bear Bark and the Gummy Bear Holiday “Mocktails.” I’ll see if I can find what I need to make them at the grocery story. I won’t dare go to Target the day before Christmas. If anything I’ll get what I need to make the bark. I might hold off on the “mocktail” recipe until New Year’s Eve. My family doesn’t drink alcohol, so this would be a fun alternative. That is if I can keep my family from eating all the gummy bears before then. LOL!
I’ll update my post with pictures as soon as I have them.
I love that the studio sent me a cute “treasure box.” It reminds me of the one in the film (where the boys find the book).
Another fun thing I was sent were some goodies to try out a science experiment that also uses Gummy Bears. Slappy (the creepy dummy from the movie) would be proud.
The experiment involved putting gummy bears into test tubes (or clear cups) and pouring in a variety of liquids (one liquid per cup) and seeing what happens to the gummy bear when left in the liquid overnight. You can use water, oil, soda, vinegar… whatever liquid you think will produce impressive results. Make sure to write down your hypothesis (educated guess) and see if you were right when you view the results in the morning.
I work with middle schoolers. They LOVE doing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) projects. I am going to hold on to some of the gummy bears to do this experiment with them.
My family and I are doing the experiment. We chose olive oil, vinegar and fruit punch. We are all pretty much in agreement that the vinegar will totally dissolve the gummy bear. We are all in agreement that the oil might not do too much to it except maybe make it softer. We have different opinions when it comes to the fruit punch. It has sugar in it, and gummy bears are made with gelatin and sugar, so me and my son think the fruit punch might just make it a little softer, where as my daughter thinks it will dissolve the gummy bear and my husband thinks there will be no change.
What do YOU think will happen? Feel free to let me know if the comment section of this post.
I wonder what other fun experiments you can do, or recipes you can make, that utilize gummy bears? I rather do fun things, or make yummy goodies with them then risk them coming to life like they do in Goosebumps 2. Ha Ha.
We’re looking forward to watching Goosebumps 2 on digital December 25, 2018. The movie will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 15, 2019.
Be sure to check out the film on Facebook (Goosebumps Movie) as well as on Twitter (@GoosebumpsMovie). You can also check out the official hashtag on social media, #Goosebumps2.
Did you see Goosebumps 2? What did you think about it?
If you haven’t seen the film, which are you most excited for, it’s digital release or when it’s released on Blu-ray and DVD?
I’ll share my review of the film at a later date.
Below are some Goosebumps 2 holiday gift tags you can download and enjoy. Simply click on the image.
