Own a car is a wonderful thing. Cars (and trucks) provide you with the opportunity to go to/from places like work, friend’s homes, around town and vacation. They are a vital part of our existence (unless you work in a city where you can use public transportation).
I used to love driving all over the place in my car. My best friend and I took many road trips in our youth. It was fantastic! Back then there were only paper maps. We never used those. We would simply hop in the car and drive and see where the day takes us. We ended up driving all over New England one year (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts). Another time we ended up in Virginia Beach and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Those were the good old days.
Having a car does have it’s downside too – buying gas, paying for insurance and the up keep of the car. If you have to repair a car it can cost in the hundreds, or thousands. As much as cars are great to have, there are also times I wish I didn’t own one.
Have you ever had your car breakdown when you were driving? Or what about having your car’s battery need a jump starter when you are in the middle of nowhere and there is no one around to help you? I’ve had that happen to me before when I was upstate.
If you’ve ever had a need to have your car’s battery jump started – I have a super easy solution for you. It’s the Cobra JumPacks are built with Pentagon Protection®.
Many people keep a set of jumper cables in their car (I have some in my trunk), but those won’t help you if you don’t have another vehicle around to help jump start your car’s battery. That is why it’s essential to always have a jump started on hand, that way you are not left stranded or waiting around for someone else to arrive.
You can buy jump starters that only jump your car (or truck), however many of the newer models offer consumers more functional features, making it something that you’ll use often and it won’t collect dust in your glove compartment or get lost in your trunk (I have to admit that my jumper cables are buried in my trunk. I haven’t seen them in ages).
Not all jump starters are made the same way. Some offer you more features than others. Take for example Cobra’s JumPacks. They are a convenient all-in-one portable solution to charging devices and a car battery safely.
Safety is high priority when it comes to Cobra. Their JumPacks are made to protect you and your vehicle from an over charge, reverse polarity, short circuit or reverse charge to provide you with peace of mind.
I was sent a Cobra JumPack to check out for myself for free to review. I was sent the Cobra CPP15000.
Here are some specifics about the CPP15000.
- The CPP15000 can be used in just about any vehicle or boat up to 8 cylinders or diesel (recommended up to 6.7L).
- The jump starting function can be done directly at the battery or inside the car through your 12V Accessory port when you are encountered with inclement weather or when your car is parked where your battery is out of reach (i.e. parking garage where it is hard to get under your hood).
- The CPP15000 is equipped with (2) USB ports to conveniently charge (2) devices at a time when on the go – also features a 3-mode flashlight great for navigating in the dark while camping or when encountered in an emergency situation. You can use it to recharge your phone, tablet, camera, laptop or other accessories up to 5x with Cobra’s Dual 3A USB ports.
- It’s water-resistant housing is dependable when caught outdoors in the rain when hiking or tailgating.
- The Cobra CPP15000 is great for out door activities such as hiking, camping, tailgating and long trips.
What I love about this charger is that it’s more than JUST a charge for when your car battery needs a jump. I like that it can charge other devices. My daughter could have really used this when she was stuck on the side of the road in an ice storm and we had no way of getting to her (the Police and tow truck companies were busy rescuing other drivers that day). He phone battery was dying and she had to keep getting out of her car to make sure there was no snow build up by her muffler, in order to keep the car running so she can charge her phone. If she had a device like this, that wouldn’t have been much of a concern. She could have charged her phone even if her car was not on.
I LOVE that you can jump start your car from inside the car. I honestly don’t know what cable to use when jumping a car, and my battery compartment in my car is not easy to get to. Being able to jump my car while sitting inside my car (which is also a safety feature if you happen to be in a not-so-nice part of town) is a big deal if you ask me.
The JumPack is a great companion for any driver. It’s reliable power and safety features, it would seem to me that the Cobra JumPacks would clearly outperform the competition.
I’m not the most “techie” person, but the Cobra Jump Starter seems to be really easy to use. It even has three LED indicator lights to let you know when the JumPack is ready to be used.
Another great feature that I really like about this portable power charger is that it’s not that big and it’s lightweight. You can easily put this charger in your purse, backpack or briefcase. You can literally take it anywhere.
There are two different Cobra portable power chargers you might want to consider;
- CPP8500 (main competitive features): Pentagon Protection®, Wireless charging, Fast Charge USB port, compact ability combined with powerful jump starting.
- CPP15000 (main competitive features): Pentagon Protection®, dual USB charge ports, jump start from inside the car, water-resistant when outdoors, 3-mode flashlight (regular, emergency, SOS). This is the one that I have.
I can’t tell you how well this charger works with powering up a car’s battery, simply because I haven’t had a need to do that (yet). There is not even a way I can try that feature out because I rather not intentionally kill my car’s battery. However, as a portable charger, to power up your devices, it does work. I have tried it to charge my iPhone and our iPad. It worked perfectly.

What do you think about this portable charger? Does it sound like something you need in your life?
With Father’s Day less than a month away, and summer vacation fast approaching, the Cobra JumPacks would make for great gifts.
