Now that my kids are heading back to school I have a little bit of a reprieve before we have to deal with the stress of moving upstate and having my kids start at a new school. Ugh! Just thinking about it brings on an instant headache. I cannot wait to move and get settled into our new home and start my kids at their new school. Once I know they are doing well at school (academically) and they have made some friends I’ll feel a million times better.
There are a lot of challenges that many moms (and dads) face during the back to school season. A recent readiness survey conducted by P&G and ORC International found that a whopping 93% of moms face some kind of a challenge during the back-to-school season, with half saying that shopping for and/or the skyrocketing cost of new school supplies are the most challenging parts. I tend to agree with this 100%. School shopping is very stressful, especially when it comes to clothing. Kids can be very picky and usually want the $$$ trendy clothing. It also irks me having to pay upwards of $8.00 for a 3-ring binder. That is crazy!
To help parents out, P&G has created the Mom’s Back-to-School Checklist. The list is to help parents prepare for this hectic time of year with tips and tricks to prepare yourself and your family for the craziness that the new school year brings.
There are even additional tips for moms to help you take a moment for YOURSELF during the hustle and bustle of back-to-school time.
You can find all the tips and more on the PGEveryday.com/BackToSchool website.
My favorite are the tips for finding a little “me time” during the day.
Uncover Moments for Mom – While summer brings freedom and fun, managing the family’s needs and more demanding schedules during the back-to-school season can limit mom’s personal time. Mom’s moments to recharge and take care of herself aren’t always easy to find, but it’s not impossible if you know where to look.
Pack lunches the night before and schedule a quick morning walk with a neighbor to start your day.
Sneak away for a pedicure or manicure after you drop your kids off at an after-school activity.
Slide and e-reader in your purse to lose yourself in the latest best seller during those idle minutes waiting for your kids.
Keep a notepad in your purse to jot down any needs/to-do’s as you think of them and celebrate as you cross them off your list.
I love the idea of getting out for a quick morning walk. It’s not easy to do that where we currently live, but when we move I think I am going to try and do something like this. A quick walk around our new neighborhood should only take 10-15 minutes. It’s not a lot as far as burning fat and calories but it’s certainly a great way to kick start the morning and get that blood flowing.
There are a lot of great articles loaded with tips and suggestions to help make the transition from the dog days of summer to the more structured and scheduled school time.
Some other articles of interest found on the P&G Everyday website include Ultimate Back-to-School Checklist, Fresh Take on School Lunches, Homework Help: How to Make Homework Time More Effective for Your Family and How to Talk to Your Child’s Teacher.
You can find even more great tips here – P&G Mom’s Back-to-School Checklist.
While on the P&G Every Day website you can also find information and reviews on P&G products, many of which are ideal for back-to-school time, not only for your children but also your household and YOU!
You can even find coupons on the P&G products that you love.
