If I had to use one word to describe 2020, I think I’d have to go with the word STRESS. Everything about this year has been stressful, from being furloughed from my job for months, to my new work schedule (I am NOT a “morning person”), and from worrying about risking your life just by going to the grocery store (and catching COVID), to the elections. Pretty much everything about this year has been horribly stressful. I am LITERALLY losing sleep over everything. It shouldn’t be that way.
There are many ways to help you deal with stress. You can talk to a friend, or a professional. You can go for a leisurely walk, or a hike. In addition, you can take up a hobby, read, or even take a nap (I vote for naps!). Whatever works for you, you should do that before the stress gets the best of you. Stress can have a negative effect on your overall health. Let’s not include health issues as another reason to hate this current year.
If you feel like you might need a little help with feeling stressed out and overwhelmed, I have a product you might want to look into. It’s called Kindroot™ Adaptogems™.
If you are unfamiliar with what an adaptogem is, adaptogems are a special class of plants and mushrooms that help your body balance while adapting to and resisting negative effects of stress.
I was sent a couple of samples from Kindroot. They sent me to review a bag of their SNOOZE and a bag of MOOD to review.
Kindroot is a brand of supplements that you might actually look forward to taking. Kindroot combines the smooth texture of a lozenge, benefits of aromatherapy and active plant-based ingredients. They are the first line of lozenges to include adaptogens as an ingredient.
*PLEASE NOTE – These products do not taste like mushrooms! Personally, I love mushrooms. Even if they did taste like mushrooms, I’d be OK with that. But these products DON’T taste like mushrooms at all. I thought I’d put that out there. I’d hate for someone to stop reading at this point thinking the products taste like mushrooms.
Flavor: Lychee Rosewater (20 lozenges)
- Reishi mushroom helps reduce stress
- Maca root promotes improved mood
- Tropical lychee and rosewater flavors uplift
I’ll admit, the taste for this product sounded odd – Lychee Rosewater? I like the smell of Rosewater, but I never thought about ingesting it. I was surprised that I REALLY like this taste. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. It has a fruity flavor. I honestly don’t taste anything that would resemble a rose, which is fine with me.
These remind me of a cough drop in their shape and how they slowly dissolve in your mouth when you suck on them. These are meant to be sucked on, like a hard candy. You are not suppose to chew them up and swallow them. I mean, I suppose you could, but sucking on them would work better.
I didn’t really think these would have much of an effect on me. I’m a plus size lady, and sometimes something that works for my “skinny counterparts” doesn’t work for me, or it doesn’t work as well (unless I take more). Surprisingly, I felt the effects with just one lozenge.
I don’t know if my mood was necessarily “lifted.” If anything, I felt rather “chill” after taking these. I think they helped to take the “edge” off of being stressed out over things. It’s as if some of what was weighing me down was lifted off of me (if that makes any sense).
Not that it’s one of the benefits of taking these, but I felt like my focus improved and I didn’t seem like my head was in a cloud. In fact, I was able to get more writing done that I have in a very long time. I don’t know if it had to do with this product or not, but it’s been a long time since I felt this way, so it’s possible this product had something to do with it.
Flavor: Lavender’nilla (20 lozenges)
- Naturally occurring melatonin promotes sleep
- Ashwagandha encourages calmness
- Lavender vanilla flavor soothes
This was another odd sounding flavor combination (Lavender and Vanilla?). BUT… just like with the Calm product, the flavor combination works. This is another tasty Kindroot product.
I need to take a melatonin product to help me fall asleep and stay asleep at night. Not all melatonin products are made the same. Some are better than others.
This product helped my mind feel more at ease. Usually my mind is racing all over the place and I feel overwhelmed (which is why I can’t fall asleep). This product, just like with the MOOD product, helped to take the edge off and made me feel more calm, which I need to fall asleep. The melatonin in this product also helped to make me feel a wee bit sleepy.
There were times I did feel the need to take two of these a half hour before bedtime, but that was only here and there. I normally took just one.
A great “bonus” with this product is that you didn’t feel groggy and “hung over” in the morning, like some sleep aids (melatonin too) make you feel. I hate that feeling of grogginess in the morning, even after a good night’s sleep. That’s a lot of the reason why our cabinet is filled with sleep aids – because I hate how they make me feel in the morning (I don’t toss them out in case someone in my family needs something). Kindroot SLEEP does not produce that same, horrible, groggy feeling (thankfully).
Overall I like both products. So much so, I am looking into buying (and trying) the other products they offer (once I get back to work and have the funds). They have a product called FOCUS that I really need to try, because I have a hard time doing that a lot of the time.
The brand also has a GLOW and DEFEND products.
The flavors for both of the products I tried are yummy. I looked forward to taking them. They were like a “sweet treat,” without reaching for candy or cookies.
