Do you want to feel old? I bet I can make you feel old (or at least older) in one sentence…
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary.
WOW! It’s been 25 years since that movie first appeared in theaters across the country. Twenty five years! Even worse, the original Home Alone film was released 27 years ago. Sigh…
For it’s 25th Anniversary, Home Alone was re-released in a collectible tin that also included an ornament and spider. I was lucky enough to get one of these sets (which we still have today).
Now the second film in the popular holiday movie franchise is available in a special 25th Anniversary edition.
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the Plaza Hotel in New York City has created a special one-of-a-kind Home Alone experience that runs from November 1, 2017 – January 31, 2018.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has partnered with The Plaza, New York City’s iconic hotel to provide guests and sightseeing tourists alike with the ultimate ‘Kevin McCallister experience’.
Beginning November 1, fans both old and new can witness some of the film’s most memorable moments come to life, making sure they catch the correct flight to New York City and experience what was the envy of moviegoers over two decades ago. Those looking to stay at The Plaza can opt for the Home Alone 2 Anniversary Room Package, complete with gifts including a branded backpack, t-shirt and copy of the “Anniversary Edition” Blu-ray as well as express passes to visit the Empire State Building. And for the literal cherry on top, this booking option will include a complimentary in-room ice plaza style sundae cart ordered via room service.
For others who plan to pop in to The Plaza for their share of the Home Alone 2 experience there will be plenty to see and do including a one-of-a-kind photo experience will allow fans to “be Kevin” experiencing his journey throughout the movie. Users will be prompted to pose at various standout movie scene stops from being lost at the airport to arriving at The Plaza and even helping the police capture the Wet/Sticky Bandits. To remember the journey, they’ll be able to walk away with a 6×8 printed photo with the option to create an animated GIF file to share digitally with friends and family.
With no parents around, Kevin ate his way through New York City and as a nod to that, The Plaza’s Todd English Food Hall will be throwing it back to the 90s, putting unique and upscale twists of household favorites from 25 years ago, such as SpaghettiOs, gourmet ‘Todd’ pockets, Charcuterie Lunchables, Funyun Rings, and Sunny-D and Zima inspired cocktails.
Oh!!!! I would LOVE to partake is this fun. We don’t live too far from the city either. I would LOVE to have the “Kevin experience” at the Plaza Hotel.
FYI… there is an additional charge for the Butler to bring you the sundae cart.
If you have not yet seen Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, you are missing out on a fun, family movie.
If you recall, in Home Alone, Kevin was mistakenly left at home to fend for himself during his family’s Christmas vacation to Paris. His mother desperately tried to find her way back home as quickly as possible. In the mean time, Kevin learned to fend for himself. He also foiled the plans of a pair of bumbling buglers from robbing his family’s home in their absence.
In Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Kevin is once again separated from his family. This time he ends up in New York City while his family ends up at their vacation destination in Florida during bad weather.
Not to waste his time in the big city, Kevin gets himself a room at the posh Plaza Hotel and takes full advantage of all it’s amenities including a plethora ice cream and all it’s toppings.
While in New York Kevin crosses paths with the same two criminals he helped to put behind bars.
Kevin learns about their plans on robbing a toy store on Christmas Eve and wants to find a way to stop them. He also needs to make sure he doesn’t get captured by him because they are aware of him and his plans.
Will Kevin be able to foil their plans once again? Will he ever make it back to his family before Christmas? To find out you need to pick up a copy of the 25th Anniversary Edition of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Look for it where ever movies are sold.
