I am not a fan of wearing face masks. I DO wear one all the time when I step outside my home, but I am not a fan of wearing one. I always feel like I am going to suffocate.
Case in point, I had to have a cat scan for my shoulder a few months ago. I have had cat scans before with no issues. The last time I had one done, I had to wear a mask in the “tube.” Within minutes my anxiety kicked into high gear and I was almost in a panic because I felt like I was suffocating in the tube with the mask on. It was an agonizing experience! I pray I don’t need another one until this pandemic is over and we can be mask-free again.
Until the day comes that we can say “good bye” to masks, I have accumulated numerous masks. I have different masks that I wear depending on my mood or what I’m wearing. I also have a mask branded with my company’s name on it (I only wear that one at work).
We learned quickly that disposable masks were not the way to go. For that reason, my family has purchased all reusable masks that we wash and wear again. We each have several masks so that we always have clean ones handy, as well as extras in case an ear strap breaks.
If you are in the market for a new, useable, mask, check out the masks from Independence Masks.
The Los Angeles based clothing manufacturer, IndieSource, pivoted immediately when we were all told that we had to wear masks in public. This manufacturing company nimbly adjusted it’s production capabilities to construct and ship out fabric face masks to those in need. Currently, for every mask that is sold, one will be donated to a Los Angeles based front line worker. So it’s a win-win situation. Consumers get new masks, and front line workers get new masks too.
Here are some details about the masks;
- Reusable Fabric Face Mask
- 100% Cotton Tightly Woven Fabric
- Machine Washable
- Pocket Opening to add Disposable Filter
- In stock ships within 3 days
- 2 layered Cotton Face Mask
I received one of their masks to try out for myself. I received their black and white heart mask. Currently I am unable to take a photo of it because it’s in my tote bag, and my tote bag is at work. I’ve been on quarantine for two weeks, plus the this week off (holiday break). I won’t be back until next week, so for not, I have to show you an image of that mask.
The mask is cute and comfortable to wear. I prefer these types of straps to the ones you need to tie on. I wish this had an adjustable strap though. That way I could make it fit my face a wee bit better.
Independence Mask has a variety of mask designs available for men, women and teens. Here are just a few examples of the available mask designs.
I like the variety of styles and colors the brand has available for consumers.
The brand has a promotion going on. For every five masks you purchase, you’ll get five mask filters for free. The filers go inside a “pocket” in the mask as added protection. The filters give you an added sense of security because it filters more of what you are breathing in. When it comes to COVID, you cannot leave anything to chance. That added protection can give you more peace of mind.
You can also purchase additional filters on the website.
