The weather outside has not been the best the past few weeks. It’s either very cold, too windy or raining. The kids at work have not been able to get outside that much. That means they are stuck inside. While that might be okay for most children, I have some kids that are super active and NEED to be doing some kind of a physical activity otherwise I think they might burst.
We sometimes have access to the gym at work, but not so much the past few weeks. The gym is often used for after school clubs, and when they get finished sports teams come in to practice. We’ve most been confined to the cafeteria which is not really contusive to much physical activity.
Thank goodness for Rift Ball.
A while back I was sent a gaming set called Rift Ball to review. It’s helped me out a lot as the site director because I am able to give the kids the opportunity to do some kind of a physical activity without them going crazy kicking balls around the gym (and risk breaking the projector or fans). Rift Ball is from the brand Creative Brainworks.
Creative Brainworks: Rift Ball is an innovative and exciting game that is the perfect for both kids and adults who love active play. With its unique design and durable construction, Rift Ball combines elements of soccer, volleyball, and handball to create a thrilling experience that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors. Whether it’s a family gathering or a friendly competition among friends, Creative Brainworks: Rift Ball brings endless fun and laughter.
Rift Ball is a game set that includes and easy-to-assemble net, two rackets, a wiffle ball and carrying case.

Playing Rift Ball is easy. Simply set up the net and start playing. Each player hits the ball to the other player through the net. It reminds me of tennis in a way.
I was concerned the net would be too hard for me to set up. It couldn’t be any easier. The metal pipes used to put the net together are all attached by an elastic band. There is no worrying about what piece goes into where. The pieces are connected. It’s just a matter of inserting the end of one tube into another.

I was also worried I’d never get it back into the carrying case. I was wrong about that too. Simply take the tubes part, fold them down and it all slides into the bag easily.
I love that my “work kids” are very smart. They have found other ways to play Rift Ball than how it’s suppose to be played.

They sometimes hit the ball back and forth without the net. I’ve also seen them bouncing the ball back and forth using one of the cafeteria tables (similar to ping pong).
Another fun way they utilized the Rift Ball equipment is to turn the next into a next for volleyball. It’s a bit too high for the little kids (and not wide enough for a real volleyball game), but that doesn’t stop the kids from using the net that way.

I have also seen the kids set up the net the way you are suppose to for Rift Ball, and try to throw frisbees in between the net pieces without touching the net.
Keep in mind this has all been done indoors. You can play Rift Ball indoors, but I would give yourself some run to move around and be careful not to play around breakables (in case the ball gets away from you).
The set comes with
- The poles to set up the nets.
- (2) game nets one for top section and one for bottom section
- (2) Riftball game paddles
- (2) Game balls
- (1) heavy duty nylon carry bag
- Set up and game play instructions
This game is fun for adults and children alike. You can play the game the way it’s suppose to be played (my kids enjoy playing that way as well). You can also “tweak” the game to suit your needs, or be like my work kids and incorporate the netting system, paddles and balls into other fun games.
