SOME of our Christmas decorations. We have about twice as many boxes as shown.
I love, love, LOVE to decorate for the holidays and seasons. I think I am more fanatical about decorating for Halloween and Christmas.
I go all out decorating every room in our home, including the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. If there is a spot I can decorate, I decorate it!
We live in a condo complex. Sadly, not too many people decorate the outside of their condo. Everyone has a balcony or patio. Since we own our balconies and patios, we are allowed to decorate them. No one does. It’s sad.
Where our condo is, you can see us from most of the complex. Being up on a hill also gives us the advantage of being seen by most people coming into our complex.
Over the years I have neighbors come up to me telling me how much they look forward to our holiday decorations year after year. I like knowing I can put a smile on people’s faces, simply doing something I enjoy doing – decorating.
If only we had a house with a yard. The things I could do!
Each year we set up our 5′ light up Santa and 4′ Frosty, as well as a giant snowflake and lights wrapped around our balcony. Our Santa is from the 1950’s. You can’t replace him. Sadly, we had to replace Frosty a few years ago. Our Frosty was from the early 1970’s, but cracked and it only go worse year after year. It took me a while, but I was able to find an exact replica at a plant nursery in New Jersey. WOW… that day was an adventure (we got so lost!).
This year we replaced our light up snowflake with a HUGE light up wreath. We also have another new addition, an inflatable penguin from Joiedomi.
I’ve always wanted an inflatable, but I didn’t think they would fit on our balcony. Our balcony is only 6′ x 12′, and we have 8′ until we hit the overhang of the building. I have seen some adorable inflatables over the years, but I never thought they would work. I also didn’t think you could see them from the parking lot.
Joiedomi was kind enough to send me a 5′ inflatable penguin to try out. The inflatable penguin comes with an extended cord, ground stakes, fastened ropes, built-in sandbags, and a plug with ul certification. It also comes with bright built-in LED lights.
My husband wasn’t too keen on the idea. He thought it would be too big, and noisy. Inflatables work with a fan that blows air inside to keep it inflated.
At first we blew it up in our living room (the cats were not happy about that – ha ha). It seemed to be a good size, so we brought him out on the balcony.
We ended up putting him on top of a chair, only because the railing around our balcony blocked a huge chunk of the view of him. We wanted to make sure he could be easily seen.
So far, so good. This adorable penguin inflatable has worked out great. He sits on top of a chair perfectly when he’s inflated. When we left the air out, he slides off a little bit, but we just pick him up and put him back in place. This has NOTHING to do with the inflatable it’s self. It’s OUR choice to put him on a chair. If we had a yard, he’d surely be staked to the ground.
We don’t hear the fan for this at all. Our condo is not that big, and we often have the sliding glass door cracked to let in some air. We live on the top floor, and heat tends to rise. If the people below us have their heat cranked up, we get too warm in our condo, so we need to open the door. We don’t hear the motor/fan for this inflatable at all!

One of the cords belong to the penguin, the other is an extension cord for our other decorations.
He lights up very well. You can easily see him from anywhere in our complex. He’s not too bright, and he’s certainly not too “faded.” He’s perfect!
When the holiday season is over, this cutie pie can easily be stored inside one of our storage boxes, along with our other decorations.
I’m excited about this. I’m looking forward to next Halloween. Maybe I can find an inflatable we can put out for Halloween too, maybe even Easter!
Joiedomi has a fun assortment of holiday inflatables, many of which I have never seen anywhere else. Here are just a few.

I love driving around and looking at all the wonderful holiday decorations in my neighborhood. I do think this 5′ inflatable penguin is really adorable also!
Those are all cute! I like how you have the penguin in the chair, it’s something different! When you’re limited to space you get creative. If I had a big enough yard I would want to get them all!
