I don’t know about you and your family, but advent calendars have always been a part of our holiday tradition. It started when I was a child, and have passed that one to my children.
Back when I was a young girl, advent calendars were just little cardboard boxes with small pieces of chocolate tucked behind each “door.” I couldn’t wait to open up the “door” and take the candy each day. Admittedly there were times I opened it up first thing in the morning before breakfast. I was too excited to wait until the end of the day for the tasty treat.
My children were the same way. I don’t blame them. Kids will be kids, and it’s hard to resist a sweet treat.
I stopped buying advent calendars for my kids when they got older, and when they would literally eat all the candy in a matter of a day or two. They didn’t wait for each day… they ate all the candy at once.
Advent calendars come in all different shapes and sizes. They certainly have changed a lot from the ones I grew up with. Now you can get advent calendars with TOYS inside them.
A company called Joyin has available a fun assortment of advent calendars. I have never seen such amusing advent calendars before.
Joyin has advent calendars featuring slime (what kids doesn’t love slime?), slow rising squishies, plush toys, vehicles, dinosaurs, play make up and more. Cool!
Joyin was kind enough to send me two different advent calendar sets to check out for myself. I was sent their 2020 Christmas Advent Calendar with Slime and Accessories and Fidget Toys. Sadly, the Fidget Toys advent calendar is no longer on their website. I guess it was so popular that it sold out.
I work with children (K-5th graders). I am NOT a fan of slime. I know that kids LOVE slime. The last few years I worked with the 4th – 6th graders and they lived and breathed slime. Slime was LIFE to them, for some odd reason. They would go CRAZY every time my co-worker offered to make slime with them.
I guess the reason why I don’t really like slime is because it’s messy. I was always the one who had to clean up after the kids when they made slime, so the experience jaded me against their favorite past time. I WANT to like slime, but I can’t get past how messy it is.
Joyin’s 2020 Christmas Advent Calendar with Slime and Accessories comes with A LOT of slime in a variety of styles and colors.
This advent calendar comes with;
- 6 fluffy slimes (white, yellow, light green, blue, pink, purple)
- 2 galaxy slime (blue, purple, gold blue, purple, red)
- 8 crystal slime (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, clear)
- 6 glitters tube in 2 days (gold, purple, blue, silver, pink, green)
- 2 bags of foam balls
- 1 bag of fruit slices
- 2 bags of soft clay décor
- 1 bag of glow in the dark powder.
If there is one thing I dislike more than slime it’s glitter! This advent calendar comes with tubes of glitter. Yikes!
This advent calendar is a slime lovers dream! There are so many tubs of slime. The extra accessories only add to the thrill of the slime.
There is a decent amount of slime in each tub. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them (I took everything out of the package to check it out). Most days are slime, but every few days you get accessories for the day. You never know what you are going to get.
If your child loves slime, this is a must-have holiday gift for them. It’s the gift that keeps on giving – literally – all month long.
The other advent calendar I was sent to review is their Fidget Toy Advent Calendar.
I really wanted to review this advent calendar because I have two students that I work with that have ADHD. One is officially diagnosed with it, but the other one has yet to be formally diagnosed.
The one that has ADHD often needs something to do to focus his energy, especially when I am trying to get him to do his school work. He needs to keep doing something. I thought these fidget toys would be ideal for him.
I have picked up fidget toys here and there, but I have never come across this much of an assortment before. This advent calendar has 24 different fidget toys.
Below is just a sampling of the goodies in the advent calendar.
I have to admit, some of these toys I am going to keep for myself. I found them fun to play around with. Even my husband found a couple that he liked and took to work with him. He keeps them in his backpack and plays with them when he finds himself bored at work (he has a lot of downtime where he works).
There is such a cool assortment in this set. I wish it was still available on their website.
Joyin has plenty of other awesome advent calendars to choose from.
With December 1st upon us, now is a great time to order one.
Joyin also has fun stuff for grown-ups too.
“Ugly Christmas Sweaters” have been a “thing” for the past several years. I thought it was a fad years ago, but it’s still holding strong. It has become a holiday tradition for a lot of people.
I know that there won’t be any holiday parties this year, but some people plan on doing virtual holiday parties on platforms such as Zoom. Other people are content to party with those at home with them.
If you are looking for an ugly holiday sweater this year, check out the apparel section of Joyin. There you find a hilarious section of ugly holiday sweaters. Check out just a few examples, as well as other fun holiday apparel.
I love the socks! They are so funny. I’ll need to pick up some of those for myself.
I was sent the Men’s Christmas Ugly Sweater Funny Reindeer to review. I chose that one because it came in size 2X, and I wear a 2X (I’m a bit “plump”).
The sweater is VERY well made. I was thinking it might be a bit on the thin side, but it’s not. It’s a heavy sweater. I was surprised by that.
The design is done up nicely on the sweater. I haven’t washed it yet, but I think it will wash and wear nicely.
The design is funny. I love the face on the first reindeer. LOL!
I had my husband hold up the sweater for me. It wasn’t easy to see the design on me when I had it on. Since no one else in my family overweight, if I had one of my family members try it on it would have been way too big on them.
The color is much nicer in person too. It’s more true to the color of the professional photograph on the brand’s website.
The sweaters are priced fairly well too. I have seen other “ugly sweaters,” and they tend to all sell for the same price.
I’ll enjoy wearing this sweater on Christmas Eve with my family. I can’t wait until COVID is gone so we can have holiday parties next year (so I can wear it out for others to see).
IF you would like to check out everything Joyin has to offer, visit Joyin.co (notice it’s .co, and not .com). Simply do a search for “Advent calendar” to see all the available options.
The brand is also on social media. All of those links are found on the bottom of their website.
