I love peanuts and peanut butter. I eat it several times a week. I enjoy it as a sandwich, on toast, on crackers and my personal favorite, with tart Granny Smith apples. What I like to do is spread peanut butter on a burrito wrap, top it with some chopped up Granny Smith apple, then roll it up and enjoy. It’s one of my “go-to” grab-and-go breakfasts.
I also love to get a bag of roasted peanuts whenever we go to the country fair. I also add peanuts on top of ice cream or just enjoy “as is.”
Oh yes! I forgot to mention that chocolate and peanut butter are a match made in heaven. I love chocolate and peanut butter combined.
I’ve tried many peanut butters over the years – crunchy, creamy, flavored – but I have never had Peanut Powder before. It’s like peanut butter, but in a powdered version.
Santa Cruz Organic offers consumers two different Peanut Powder. One is regular and the other is will milled chia seeds.
Why choose Peanut Powder? Because it gives you the same great roasted peanut flavor but with fewer calories and less fat.
I compared Santa Cruz Peanut Powder with a popular name brand peanut butter and this is what I found.
Brand name creamy peanut butter – 3 tablespoons is 285 calories.
Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Powder – 3 tablespoons is 70 calories.
Brand name creamy peanut butter – 3 tablespoons equals 24 grams of fat.
Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Powder – 3 tablespoons equals 2 grams of fat (3 grams for the powder with the chia seeds)
Wow! That is a huge difference. Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Powder also has less carbs than the brand name creamy peanut butter. When it came to protein, the brand name creamy peanut butter had more than the Peanut Powder.
So how does one enjoy Peanut Powder? It’s simple, simply add it to your favorite recipes, smoothies or desserts. You could mix a spoonful in your oatmeal for a peanut butter flavored oatmeal. You could also sprinkle a little bit on top of your ice cream.
The Peanut Powder tastes exactly like peanuts because it IS real peanuts, it’s just chopped up so fine that it’s a powder. *Santa Cruz Organic’s Peanut Powder is made with ONLY organic peanuts. That’s it. There is no added ingredients, flavors or colors.
*All Santa Cruz Organic products are Certified USDA Organic Non-GMO Project® Verified
Santa Cruz Organic has a recipe on their site that utilizes their Peanut Powder. It’s for an Apple Peanut Granola. It not only provides a nourishing breakfast but it also doubles as an easy and portable snack. Best of all, there are no “mystery ingredients” because you’ll know everything that went into making it. It’s a quick and easy recipe and you can adapt it to suit your family’s tastes.
You can find the recipe on their site. I omitted the salt and added in walnuts and raisins (in addition to the pecans).
This recipe is made with applesauce and maple syrup, both of which were surprise ingredients to me. Santa Cruz Organic also makes applesauce. The brand sent me both Peanut Powders to try out (with and without Chia seeds) as well a a jar of organic applesauce.
My kids love it and I plan on making more. They mostly used this as a snack, but my daughter did add it to her yogurt and I think it would make a delicious ice cream topping too.
You can find more recipes like this on the Santa Cruz Organic website.
I think Peanut Powder is a unique idea. I love that you can still the same great peanut butter-like taste, but with much less fat and calories. I like the idea of challenging myself to find yummy ways to incorporate it into recipes too.
