Did you know that June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month?
When I was younger, I never gave much thought to what happens to your brain when you get older. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I learned about things like Alzheimer’s, Dementia, MS and other neurodegenerative diseases. I should I have taken better care of my brain health back then. Now that I am a middle aged adult, I REALLY wish I put more emphasis on my brain health DECADES ago. Now I am constantly worried about my brain health. Is it too late? Am I doomed to experience a neurodegenerative disease? Sigh…
I try to challenge my brain as much as I can by learning something new as well as playing games that focus you to use your noggin (challenging puzzles, games that make you think…). Other stimulating activities also help, as well as managing stress and getting enough sleep. I’m still struggling with the stress and sleep part.
Did you know what you eat also can help with brain health? Foods such as fatty fish (Omega-3’s), leafy green vegetables, and whole grains are good for your brain.
I have heard about the MIND diet which stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. I am still trying to research that. I’m all for a Mediterranean diet, but I don’t know if my husband would get on board with that. We’ll see.
There are other delicious things you can add to your diet to help with brain health – nuts and seeds.

Nuts and seeds are such versatile foods. They can be used in a variety of recipes for any meal of the day – even smoothies. My favorite way to enjoy them is as a snack.
Did you know;
🧠 Walnuts — High in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants that support memory and brain function
🌰 Almonds — Rich in vitamin E, which may help protect brain cells
🌻 Pumpkin and Sunflower Seeds — Packed with magnesium, zinc, and iron, essential for cognitive health
Walnuts and almonds are also great for heart health. Pumpkin and sunflower seeds are a yummy source of protein.
If you are looking to incorporate more brain healthy foods into your diet, check out the website Wholesale Nuts and Dried Fruits. They sell wholesale quantities of nuts, seeds and dried fruits at low prices.
Their products are sourced directly from the farmers and packed sustainably.
The brand even offers a 3-day Money Back Guarantee if there are any problems with your order.
Wholesale Nuts and Dried Fruits was kind enough to send me some samples of their products. I received to review a sample size portion of pumpkin and sunflower seeds with a little salt (they have unsalted varieties too), pecans and walnuts, and dried apples and pineapples.
I do eat a lot of nuts and seeds (not so much dried fruits). I get them primarily from the grocery store. Let me tell you, store bought nuts and seeds are not nearly as good as fresh ones. The ones I received from Wholesale Nuts and Dried Fruits are SO FRESH. There is a noticeable difference, in a great way.
I once bought cashews from a local major chain drug store that were STALE. They were horrible! I had to throw them out.
I also appreciate that the ingredients from Wholesale Nuts and Dried Fruits is the product and nothing but the product (with a few exceptions). Take for example the lightly salted seeds I received to review. I prefer them to be lightly salted, but the brand has them without salt.
The nuts are just the nuts and nothing else. They taste like the nuts I remember cracking out of the shells at my great-grandparent’s house. Not only did that bring back memories, but they were great to snack on too.
You’ll notice that the dried fruits do contain Sulfur Dioxide. That is necessary to keep them fresh and from spoiling. It is safe for you (unless you are allergic to it) and approved by the FDA. I rather they do that then receive dried fruits that have gone bad.
Even the fruit tasted fresh. It tasted like it was just dried that day. I’ve also never had dried pineapple before. That was so good!
If you are looking to incorporate nuts, seeds and/or dried fruits into your diets, whether it’s in recipes or healthy snacking, visit WholesaleNutsandDriedFruits.com to see all that they have to offer. You can also check them out on social media (all their links are on the bottom of their website).
Are you a fan of nuts, seeds and/or dried fruits? What is your favorite? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
