I work in the school system, and we follow their calendar. That means I have a whole week off for Christmas break. I’m off December 23rd to January 2, 2023. Yeah! I cannot wait. I NEED that time off. It’s been a rough few weeks at work.
When my kids were younger, they were the ones who were excited about the long break from school. In fact, they looked forward to all of the breaks (naturally). Sometimes, as a parent, I almost dreaded those days off from school, especially when it was cold outside, because I knew I was going to hear those dreaded words over and over again, “Mom, I’m bored!”
I always did my best to think of fun things to do with my kids (there was only so many trips to the mall I was willing to take). One thing I did that they always loved was providing them with arts and crafts supplies. I would also give them recyclables and fabric scraps (whatever I had lying around that could be repurposed). My son was keen on building roads and bridges for his cars. My daughter wanted to create outfits for her Barbie dolls (she was always into creating fashion).
At work I have a bin of miscellaneous craft supplies. On days when I am unable to come up with a project or craft, or I am busy with other things, it’s nice to know that the kids can create something if they wanted to. Just the other day they were attaching pom poms to pipe cleaners, then attaching one end to their ear to look like they had on a microphone, like you see singers and newscasters wear. Very creative!
The brand Kids Art Box helps parents find fun and creative ways to engage their child, as well as fun craft ideas for children to do each month.
The Kids Art Box is a Montessori inspired arts and crafts subscription box that contains everything you need for hands on learning, creating and connecting.
Each box contains almost all the supplies you will need for 3-4 different art projects. The only other supplies you might need are items commonly found around your home, like scissors.
There are different boxes for different age groups. The boxes for younger children are projects they can do with a parent. The boxes for older children are geared more towards children to do on their own, or they can do it with a parent.
I was sent a box to check out for myself. The box I received had a lot of fun craft projects to do pertaining the creatures in the jungle.
Almost everything you’d need was included, and what wasn’t included, as I had mentioned earlier, are things commonly found around your home.
The box contained other items you would need that you might not already have, like paint, paint brushes, specific papers and more.
I love that the craft projects were wrapped up separately, and numbered, so all you needed was in each individual package. Another words, everything you needed for craft project #2 would be found in package #2. Everything for craft project #4 would be found in the package clearly marked #4.
The instructions provided are excellent and easy to follow. Any one should be able to do these craft projects with no problem.
The kit I received also had the recipes and step-by-step instructions on how to make edible snakes (breadsticks). How fun is that? Too bad I didn’t get the chance to make these for my “work kids” for Halloween. They would have loved them (and they would have been a delightful Halloween treat).
I like that you can purchase individual boxes on the brand’s website, as well as subscribe to their subscription service. Kids love receiving mail, and packages are even better. A subscription to Kids Art Box would make a fabulous gift (or an individual box). They offer gift certificates too.
Their boxes are great for children as young as three years old, and boxes for 18+.
These would be great to have on hand for snowy and rainy days.
