I am not a fan of winter time. It’s not the snow. I actually don’t mind the snow, as long as I don’t have to drive in it or shovel it. What I don’t like are dark, gloomy days (I suffer from Season Affective Disorder), and the rock salt. Oh how hate rock salt! It’s like sand, it gets EVERY WHERE.
I won’t let my family or guests into our home without taking their shoes off. I hate to ask that of guests, but we have cats and I am worried they might inject the rock salt and get very sick (with eight cats our vet bills are high enough). Now only that, I don’t want rock salt and dirt trekked through my home. I like to keep my home clean, and the dirt and gunk from the outside makes my floors and carpet dirty.
In many Asian cultures they don’t allow outside shoes into the home. You need to remove your “outside shoes” at the door and slip your feet into “inside shoes.” This keeps the home clean.
I’m not exactly in the best of shape, physically. I suffer from a lot of ailments (oh the joys of getting older…). It’s hard for me to stand up outside our front door and put my sneaks on and tie them. Taking them off is easy, it’s putting them back on that’s the problem. I need to shake my sneakers off outside to ensure there is nothing on the bottom of them, then bring them inside so I can sit down and put them on. It’s not only time consuming, but standing at the door makes our cats want to “escape.” Have you ever tried to round up several cats at once? It’s not easy, that is for sure.

Peels Mats come in a variety of colors and styles to suit your preferences and home’s decor. I was sent to review a gray base mat and the mat design called Kallie. It’s funny that I was sent that one because our blind cat’s name is Callie.
The box that it came is was very heavy. The base part is on the heavy side. Once down you won’t need to worry about having to pick it up and carry it again, not unless you need to put it by another location or clean it.
Setting up the peel mat is super easy to do.
I would recommend using two people to stick the design piece down, only to help keep it straight. You CAN do it by yourself too.
The sticky sheets on top can be “used” several times before needing to be removed for a fresh one. Of course that depends on the amount of dirt they collect from the bottom of your shoes. If I see an area of the mat getting a bit dirty, I’ll step on another part of it. This way I can make sure to use up every space on the peelie before pulling it off to reveal a fresh, new one.
I have yet to notice any residue on our inside flooring from the peelies. Your shoes also do not stick to the floor.
The peelies have numbers on the corner of them, that way you can keep track of how many fresh ones you have left so you know when it’s time to order a replacement pack.
This mat has been a God send for me. This allows me to keep my shoes on when I come into my home knowing that I’ll be able to sit down on a chair and put my shoes on without worrying about rock salt and other dirt getting all over my home. I find comfort in knowing that it’s keeping our cat safe from ingesting the rock salt, as well as getting it stuck in their paws.
You can purchase refill packs of the peelies on the brand’s website, as well as other designs. Right now the brand has pretty designs for Valentine’s Day! I wonder if they have designs for other holidays too? I’d love to see a Halloween and Christmas design.
