Can you believe that Valentine’s Day (2025) is only a month away? Before you know it we’ll be making plans for Easter, then Memorial weekend, then summer. Time zips by way too quickly.
Since I work with children, I have been looking up craft/project ideas for my “work kids” to do to help celebrate Valentine’s Day. I know some of the kids already have their Valentine’s Day cards purchased and are excited to pass them out to their classmates. Some even purchased small goodies (pencils, erasers…) to include with them (passing out candy is not allowed in our school, sadly).
When it comes to Valentine’s Day, things that pop into most people’s minds are cards, candy, chocolates and flowers. Would a dragon come to mind? Probably not.
Releasing just in time for Valentine’s Day is a new book from author Bianca Shulze (release date February 9, 2025), from Clever Publishing. The book is illustrated by Samara Hardy. The book is called Who Loves the Dragon?
Dragon is looking forward to the annual Friendship Festival. It’s a time to celebrate those important people in our lives. Sadly, many of Dragon’s friends, such as the knights and the cooks, are off doing other things. Dragon feels alone and is worried that she won’t be able to enjoy this special day with her friends.
In this interactive book, readers are asked to do things to help cheer dragon up such as tell a joke, tell dragon some kind words, even pet dragon.
Will Dragon cheer up? Will she feel loved on this special day? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
This is a fun book that parents and children can enjoy reading together. It’s also an easy read for young readers. It’s geared towards children 3-7 years old.
This might not sound like a typical Valentine’s Day book, but it is about making someone feel loved and appreciated. After all, isn’t that what Valentine’s Day is about (as far as children are concerned).
I think this book is adorable. It’s a cute story and I love the sweet illustrations. I also appreciate how the book asks children to do things to help cheer Dragon up. I haven’t read this to my “work kids” yet, but I think they will have a blast doing all the things the books asks them to do for Dragon.
There IS something SO CUTE staring Dragon for Valentine’s Day – Dragon Loves Cards.
This Valentine’s Day card set comes with 25 Valentine’s Day cards and envelopes. These are a nice size too (bigger than the typical classroom Valentine’s Day cards).
The cards feature colorful illustrations of Dragon and Dragon’s friends, along with sweet expressions of love and friendship.
If your child loves dragons, or is a fan of the Dragon character (there are several Dragon books by Bianca Schulze and illustrator Samara Hardy), these would be a great option for your child to give our to their friends and family.
I had the opportunity to check out another Dragon book – Sharing is Caring, Dragon. It’s from the same author and illustrator.
Similar to the Who Loves the Dragon book, this book is also interactive in the sense that it asks readers (or listeners) to do things such as patting Dragon on the back or look for a book that went flying through the air.
In this book, Dragon visits her favorite place, the library, to get some new books. She finds a book she really wants, but a knight also wants the same book. They end up fighting over the book, but in the library and in the forest. As you can probably guess, they learn to find a way to compromise so that they can both enjoy the book.
One thing I really like about this book is that some of the author and illustrators other books are seen inside this book. What a creative thing to do. The book they fight over is called Cattitude, which is a real book by Schulze and and Hardy.
Who Loves a Dragon won’t be available for purchase until February 9, 2025, but Sharing is Caring, Dragon is available for purchase right now, along with other Dragon books. The Valentine’s Day cards are available for purchase right now too.
You can find Dragon books at many book retailers including Amazon, Target and Barnes and Noble.
