Are you a soda drinker? Personally I am not, but I do enjoy soda from time to time.
I don’t really have a flavor preference. I like a variety of soda flavors. As a kid I drank a lot of ginger ale, only because my mom used to give it to me (with crackers) when I had an upset stomach. I learned to enjoy the taste of it because my mom gave it to me often.
When I go to a restaurant and feel like having soda I’ll get whatever cola they might serve. I’m not picky.
Many years ago (we’re talking about 23+ years), my family and I went on vacation to Florida. We went to the Disney parks too. In Epcot there was a section where you could try different sodas from around the world. Some people were even mixing them (eww). Let me tell you, there are some odd flavors out there, and not all of them are as tasty as you might think.
What do you think about the combination of cola with orange and lemon juices. For some it might sound gross, but if you ever squeezed a slice of lemon into your cola, it’s not that far off.
In Germany a soda with the same flavor combination is known as a Spezi

“Spezi” is a popular name for a German soft drink that combines cola and orange soda. It’s a mix of cola and orange juice, often with a touch of lemon, making it a citrusy and refreshing beverage.
The brand Paulaner Sunset has taken their own spin on the classic Spezi with their non-alcoholic beverage by the same name.
Introducing Paulaner Sunset, the refreshing non-alcoholic drink that combines cola with orange and lemon juices, enhanced by a delightful blend of spices and a hint of vanilla. It’s the perfect mix of fruity freshness and bold flavors, designed to elevate your warm-weather moments.
This German cola mix is the best-tasting, uniquely layered orange cola beverage, with a cult following.
Originating in Munich in 1974 under the name Paulaner Spezi, this award-winning beverage quickly became a German cultural icon. Known for its unique, psychedelic-inspired design and its unforgettable taste, Spezi has been a favorite among Germans for decades. Spezi had never been available outside of Germany—until now! Now, this legendary drink is finally available to the U.S. under its new name: Paulaner Sunset! Enjoy the award-winning flavor, and also available in a zero-calorie option.

I received the brand’s sampler pack to try out both versions of the soda (regular and zero sugar).
I’ve had lemon with my cola many times, so I am familiar with the taste, and truly enjoy it. This soda takes that one step further with the added orange flavor.
Paulaner Sunset has a refreshing fruity flavor, just as advertised. At the same time you can clearly taste the cola too. I like it because it didn’t “scream cola,” if you know what I mean. Cola has a rather distinct, strong flavor to it (in a good way). With this soda, the added fruity flavors tones that bold cola flavor down a bit and adds a lovely fruity flavor into the mix.
I was worried the regular version would be too sweet, but it’s not. I was also worried that the zero calories variety would have an artificial taste or leave a bad taste in my mouth. I am not normally a fan of such beverages, with the exception of ice tea (I only drink unsweetened ice tea). Initially I wasn’t sure about the zero calorie version, but it’s actually not bad at all. of the two the regular flavor is my favorite.
The regular version has 130 calories per can.
