Valentine’s Day is coming up! Did you know that one in five Americans would rather spend Valentine’s with their dog than a significant other? And it’s no wonder why – they’re loving, they’re loyal, and you don’t have to put on Spanx to go out with them.

If it just happened this afternoon, does it count as a memory? We brought home a dog from the local no-kill shelter today, and when we got home, it was sweet to watch our current dog and the new dog getting to know each other. Big day in this house! 🙂

My favorite moment is when we drove to Iowa/Nebraska line to pick up Schooner’s new brother Skipper. We met at a doggie park. When Schooner saw Skipper they went off running and chasing each other. On our long drive home they slept side by side and to this day 5 years later they still sleep side by side. Best of friends.

I have so many favorite doggy moments. I love my two rescue pups and often volunteer as a transport driver to get doggies to their forever homes, foster homes, or rescue. My favorite moments is when I can bring a pup to their forever mom/dad for the first time. The meetings are often emotional and full of joy. It’s a wonderful experience.

I rescued my second little doggie (Little) from someone that broke his little leg. I had to take him down the stairs to go potty but he sure could get up them. He would hold his cast up high and bounce up them!

My favorite memory is when I first got my dog. It was very quiet in the house so I knew something was up. I went and found her in the bathroom and she completely destroyed a roll of toilet paper. It was so naughty but she was having such a good time doing it.

My favorite memories are watching friends and family fall in love with our Pitbull. People would arrive terrified because they believed all the silly things they had heard but once they spent a few minutes with our “ferocious” Pit, it was true love. He was such a sweet heart and lover. He was the best Pitbull ambassador and changed a lot of minds.

I guess i will start with my oldest Evie, who is almost 15 yrs old and has been my baby since she was 6 wks old. i had been looking for a black and silver min schnauzer gal. i looked at several. but Evie spoke to me, when i went to look at her, she came right over and jumped in my lap and i knew, i took her home the next day. my mother was elated b/c she loved mini schnauzers. we had lost my 1st gal many yrs ago of cancer when she was just 7 yrs old. my mother cried for months, yrs. now Rose is buried b/t her 2 grandparents with my mother. my mother had it in her will that Rose was to be buried with her, she had Rose creamated.

My favorite doggy memory is when I brought my beautiful Josie home. She was a birthday present for my mother who lives with us. Josie is a chawawa and probably only weighed 1 1/2 pounds. She was so tiny we thought we were going to step on her. She was so shy she didn’t know how to walk. I put her in a big box in the family room and somehow she made her way out of that box. She is such a beautiful dog.

My favorite doggy memory is when we were little and took our cocker spaniel to the parade where everyone walked with their dogs. We took our wagon which was all decorated. Butch, the dog, ended up dragging my brother down the street while he was chasing another dog. Not so great for my brother but he wasn’t hurt, only scared.

One of my favorite doggy moments is when my senior rescue sings or should I say howls with my grandson when he sings! It is so precious to see them singing and howling together. Sometimes I think he thinks he is a wolf! Loves to howl!

My favorite doggie moments involve our basset who knows our neighbor’s car. When she sees the neighbor comes home, she runs to meet her because she knows the neighbor will have a jerky treat for her. The neighbor buys them specifically for our dog, she has a cat.

I grew up with dogs, we have two of our own and we foster (in just the past 2 years we’ve had 20 dogs come through our door and find forever homes, that right there is just an amazing memory) so I have a ton of favorite moments but… I’ll share a bit about our Stella, who came as a foster a year ago, she was 11 weeks and she was born in a dog fighting ring and was to be used as a bait dog – all she knew was fear and anxiety and that fear and anxiety completely controls her life. It took months for her to become comfortable with us and finally start to trust us. after 10 months with us and not letting anyone else get close to her we decided we just couldn’t let her go, couldn’t trust anyone to understand her and not push her past her limits so we officially adopted her! She will likely never be a typical dog, she may never enjoy being around people or taking a walk in the park (she is on paxil and xanax too) but she trusts us, she loves us.. she finally sees our home as her home, our beds as her beds.. she now snuggles, she plays, she loves. She’s overwhelming at times but we just love her so much and will continue to do whatever needed to try to help her have a happy life (our vet believes she has some genetic issues so we don’t know what the future holds but she’s safe and loved).

My favorite doggie memory is when my dog, Helen, was introduced to the cat we adopted. I was apprehensive at first as to how she’d behave with the cat. She immediately took a liking to the cat and snuggled with her. Made me happy to know the two would get along. Thanks.
