Version 1.0.0
Now available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital is the action drama, A Working Man.
The film stars Jason Statham, Arianna Rivas, David Harbour, and Michael Peña, to name a few.
This film was directed by David Ayer, and written by Ayer and Sylvester Stallone. It was produced by Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, David Ayer, Chris Long, John Friedberg, Bill Block, and Kevin King Templeton.
Levon Cade (Statham) is a former Marine Commando who was part of the black ops. He now works as a construction foreman for a company owned by Joe (Peña) and his wife Carla (Noemí González). Their college age daughter Jenny also works for them in the office.
Cade is also a widower who has a daughter being raised by his father in law because his father in law feels as though he’s not a good enough father.
One night while out partying with her friends, Jenny is abducted. Out of desperation after the Police have been unable to find any leads, Joe and Carla turn to their friend Cade for his help. Cade is reluctant because he’s trying to distance himself from his past, and prove he’s a fit parent. However, Jenny is like a second daughter to him, so he makes it his mission to find her.
Can Cade find Jenny before it’s too late? What will happen to his time with his own daughter if his father in law finds out that he’s back to his former self? To find out, check out the film A Working Man. Look for it where ever you buy or rent movies.
If you are a fan of Jason Statham’s films, or you are familiar with him, you know what to expect in this film. Statham seems to be type cast a rough around the edges action hero whose bad side you don’t want to be on. He has been in comedic roles (which I find refreshing for him). Personally I like his films. I have come to expect some serious fights and high octane action from his films. Statham is no exception in this film.

From the beginning my husband and I had Taken vibes from this film. You might be familiar with that movie franchise that stars Liam Neeson. The concept is similar in the fact that a young girl is abducted for the purpose of human trafficking, and someone (in this case Statham) goes above and beyond to bring the girl back, no matter how many skulls he needs to crack or things he needs to destroy. Statham and Neeson are “human wrecking balls” in a way – they will destroy everyone and everything that gets in their way. They are on a mission to bring an abducted girl home, no matter what the cost. Even though the films are similar, they do have plenty of differences as well.
The film is based in Chicago. The cinematographers chose some gritty locations to add to that sense of dread and foreboding. Some places you wouldn’t want to be UNLESS you had someone like Statham with you to protect you. Regardless, Chicago is one of my “Bucket List” locations that I want to visit some day.
I liked the added storyline about Cade’s young daughter and how he’s trying to be a good father to her. Just the mere fact that the father in law was trying to get his visitations cut down to one hour every week (or was it every other week) is insane.
The rest of the actors in this film also did a fantastic job. I think Rivas did an outstanding job as Jenny. She sure wasn’t as helpless as the abductors had hoped she would be.
This film is released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Be sure to check them out online, as well as follow them on social media, to keep up to date on new movie releases.
