Over the years there have been plenty of movies geared towards mostly teens and college students that deal with teens trying to win over their love interest. Most of the times these movies contain sex, crude humor, nudity, drugs and/or alcohol. Some movies that come to mind include American Pie, Porky’s, Fast Time at Ridgemont High, Risky Business and Sex Drive.
A new film, presumably geared towards the same demographic, called Behaving Badly, is now available.
This film stars and all star cast including Selena Gomez, Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Shue, Dylan McDermott, Heather Graham, Cary Elwes, Jason Lee, Patrick Warburton and Gary Busey. There is even a brief cameo of Justin Beiber. Oddly enough he’s in jail where he should be. Ha Ha.
This is NOT a teen friendly film – not by a long shot. This is an adult’s only film, even if it stars popular teen stars like Nat Wolff and Selena Gomez. In fact, I would object to my almost 18 year old daughter watching this film.
Behaving Badly is about a high school boy name Rick (Nat Wolff) who has a serious crush on a girl in his school named Nina (Selena Gomez). She doesn’t even know he’s alive.
Rick makes a bet with the son of a mafia guy $1,000 that he can win Nina over in two weeks. It sounds easy enough but there are a lot of hurdles in the way including Nina’s possessive ex-boyfriend, Rick’s best friend’s mom who has made herself his sexual teacher, Rick’s mom who attempted suicide, his stripper sister, sex addict father and a questionable priest – to name a few.
This film had very little to do with the plot (boy wins over the girl he crushes on). It was more about the crude humor, sex, nudity and extensive use of drugs and alcohol. I am very shocked that actors like Patrick Warburton, Elizabeth Shue and even Selena Gomez would appear in such a film.
I also don’t find things like suicide funny.
I don’t normally write bad reviews. To me, a review is just ONE PERSON’S opinion on a film. It’s not an “end all”. Just because I didn’t like the movie doesn’t mean that the next person won’t find it hysterically funny and entertaining. It just wasn’t my “cup of tea”, so to speak.
The trailer (seen below) made it look more funny then it actually was.
Behaving Badly is now available on DVD. I don’t think there were any bonus features on the DVD.
Look for the movie where ever films are sold.
Here is the film’s trailer.
